Historia
Pulled out of (forced) retirement by his old protégé, Peter Guillam, George Smiley must determine who among the high command at the British Secret Intelligence Service is in fact a Soviet spy—one who’s been climbing their way up the ranks for decades. The stakes are high: the mole is behind more than one failed operation and has lain waste to some of their best informant networks.

Lecarre was hypnotic.. original TV series with Alec Guiness almost word for word to the novel. Thoughtful dialog beautiful language
Simon Vance is just perfect. Sorry there will be no more John LeCarre books. Sadly his son's recent attempt not the same. If you like espionage, it's the best.

In London, twenty-six-year-old Venetia Stanley—aristocratic, clever, bored, reckless—is part of a fast group of upper-crust bohemians and socialites known as “The Coterie.” She’s also engaged in a clandestine love affair with the Prime Minister, H. H. Asquith, a man more than twice her age. He writes to her obsessively, sharing the most sensitive matters of state.

Historia
Renée Ballard and the LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit get a hot shot DNA connection between a recently arrested man and a serial rapist and murderer who went quiet twenty years ago. The arrested man is only twenty-four, so the genetic link must be familial: His father was the Pillowcase Rapist, responsible for a five-year reign of terror in the city of angels. But when Ballard and her team move in on their suspect, they encounter a baffling web of secrets and legal hurdles. Meanwhile, Ballard’s badge, gun, and ID are stolen.

had to cancel early
Revisado: 10-20-24
loved early Bosch. one thing so annoying Connelly has always done. Narrator insists on ending sentences, "...he said or ...she said" I've listed to hundreds of audiobooks and this childish addition to narration is unnecessary especially now that recent books have multiple narrators. I feel like I'm being read a kid's storybook. Couldn't continue this one.

Historia
After the violence of Kristallnacht (1938), European Jews, now desperate to emigrate, found the consular doors of the world closed to them. Only one port required no entry visa: Shanghai, a self-governing Western trading enclave in what was technically Chinese territory, a political anomaly that became an escape hatch—if you were lucky enough to afford a ticket on one of the great Lloyd liners sailing to the East and safety.

Struggle to listen to reader
Revisado: 02-02-23
I chose this book because Hoover was running FBI during my teen years. there are many interesting aspects to the eras and he obviously evolved. I learned a lot but the reader was speaking like she was reading a children's book..crazy emphases. this is a history book not a toddler book.
