Historia
Jonathan Haidt skillfully combines two genres-philosophical wisdom and scientific research-delighting the listener with surprising insights. He explains, for example, why we have such difficulty controlling ourselves and sticking to our plans; why no achievement brings lasting happiness, yet a few changes in your life can have profound effects, and why even confirmed atheists experience spiritual elevation.

really interesting but has some weird writing

he repeats himself verbatim a fair amount I think each chapter has like a little peak ahead but I didn't love that and sometimes it felt like I was just listening to the same thing but otherwise it was solid.

In this poignant audio piece, Samantha Allen takes listeners along for the wild ride of her own transition: The good, the bad, but mostly, the funny. Because once she began this life-changing journey in earnest, Samantha realized that while the emotional trials of gender dysphoria and self-discovery could be harrowing, there were so many laugh-out-loud moments along this winding road.

the story kept me hooked pretty consistently I think it was written well and I think the way they jump back and forth through perspectives of a few people works well for this story and does a good job keeping suspense I enjoyed it and will think about it for a while

Historia
April May and the Carls are back in the much-anticipated sequel to Hank Green's number-one New York Times best-selling debut novel, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. The Carls disappeared the same way they appeared, in an instant. While they were on Earth, they caused confusion and destruction without ever lifting a finger. Months later, the world is as confused as ever. Andy has picked up April’s mantle of fame; Maya, ravaged by grief, begins to follow a string of mysteries that she is convinced will lead her to April; and Miranda infiltrates a scientific operation.

loved it
Revisado: 09-23-20
I have no complaints this book does an excellent job of using sci fi to tell a very real human story. hank is amazing at using literature as a perspective shift on real life and is the only author I have found that is good at mixing current events or ideas with a story with out it feeling forced. he does so by acknowledging that his audience is generally smart. I feel like a lot of books will reference pop culture by being very specific and it feels so forced. this book is able to make subtle references to pop culture that could go missed but pack satisfaction when noticed. I look forward to any future novels he may write!

I'm glad my tik tok feed was one day a bunch of hank green promoting his new book and that led me to this one because of my adoration for the green brothers grows more and more all the time and this book was really amazing and I was so sucked in I don't often stay up until 2:30 am knowing I have things to do tomorrow listening to a book because I just don't want to wait to finish it. would highly recommend.

didn't quite feel like it got wrapped up in the end as much as I wanted it to. probably good that it left me wanting more but nonetheless it felt like it wasn't really done and the epilogue wasn't enough to fix that.
