Try the version read by Stefan Rudnicki
Revisado: 03-05-24
This version is adequate and I don't wish to be overly critical, but the voice employed by the narrator does not seem to fit the time and place where the story is set. I think the version offered by Audible read by Stefan Runicki is essentially perfect, and this version is just okay. Give the other one a try before selecting this one.

incompetent use (misuse) of chapter/track marks
Revisado: 02-26-24
Good stories and narration, but the audio technician/production engineer got the brilliant idea to omit creating individual tracks for each chapter, leaving us with only four absurdly long tracks, each for one story, even though these stories each had many individual chapters. Apparently this same audio technician thought it was a good idea to have 0.000 seconds of silence between each story. so the story ends and the next story has begun immediately. you don't get 3 seconds. you don't get two seconds, you don't get one second, you don't get ½ a second or even GOD FORBID ⅛ of a second a silence between each story. Whoever did this just did not understand their job in the least.

Historia
In August 1897, the young Belgian commandant Adrien de Gerlache set sail for a three-year expedition aboard the good ship Belgica with dreams of glory. His destination was the uncharted end of the earth: the icy continent of Antarctica. But de Gerlache’s plans to be first to the magnetic South Pole would swiftly go awry. After a series of costly setbacks, the commandant faced two bad options: turn back in defeat and spare his men the devastating Antarctic winter, or recklessly chase fame by sailing deeper into the freezing waters.

Inappropriate Narration
Revisado: 08-13-23
I wish more of the reviews here had mentioned the genuinely "odd" narration. I don't want to be unkind, but do yourself a favor and listen to a sample before buying this audiobook. if you make it through the sample, you can probably tolerate this man's voice. Personally, I cannot.

Completely Fu#king Unacceptable
Revisado: 01-20-23
I bought this audio book on audible 8 or 10 years ago and it was narrated by the author. The narration was good And it was one of my all time favorite audio books out of several 100.
Then, without announcing they had done so, Audible removed that paid audio book from my collection and replaced it with this piece of absolute garbage.

Historia
Come with us to an Enchanted Place, a forest where Winnie-the-Pooh lived with Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Eeyore, Kanga, and Little Roo. The stories are about Christopher Robin and these good companions having wonderful times getting in and out of trouble. It is all very exciting and, really, quite thrilling no matter how young or old you may be. It is painful to try and imagine what the world would be like without them.

Reader ruined the part of Piglet
Revisado: 12-24-22
Along with a lot of the other reviews I have read, I am going to have to express my deep displeasure and disapproval of Mr. Dennis choosing to insert an inappropriate and uncalled for snorting/farting noise at the end of every statement made by the Piglet character. There was nothing whatsoever in the author's text to suggest this type of annoying stupidity. It completely ruins the entire production. There is no way in the world that the current 4.6/5 overall rating for this audiobook is an accurate reflection of the product.

Historia
In the more than five tumultuous, paradigm-shifting years of Donald Trump’s presidency and beyond, his near-constant lying has become a fixture of political life. It is inextricably linked with how his party behaves, how the Democrats respond to it, and how he remains relevant, even after a decisive loss in 2020. Jonathan Lemire brings his connections, profile, and reportorial instincts to bear in his first book that explores how this phenomenon shapes our politics. The Big Lie is the first audiobook to examine this unprecedented and tenuous moment in our nation’s politics.

disappointing
Revisado: 11-28-22
I have purchased and generally enjoyed close to a dozen books about Trump, who I utterly and completely despise. generally, any book which trashes the filthy idiot which is the former president, I tend to give that book a favorable opinion. not so with this one. it is just plain boring and it is just an absolutely hash of everything we have already heard a million times before.

hyper-enunciation gets old
Revisado: 04-12-22
I like the story and writing, but the narrator seems to think it is very proper to enunciate in an exagerated and forced way. He even does it for BOTH characters during dialog. In real life, no one hyper- enunciates like this guy, and it is tough in my ears. Very distracting and utterly misguided, but maybe he thinks it is " professional ".

Historia
The unforgettable voyager of this dark picaresque is I. B. "Berl" Pickett, M.D., whose die was probably cast the moment his mother thought to name him after Irving Berlin. Other insults piled on apace thereafter: the spasms of Pentecostal Sunday worship; the social debilitation of following his parents' itinerant rug-shampooing business; the erotic initiation at the hands of his aunt. It's hard to imagine what would have become of him had he not gone to medical school.

Never Evolved
Revisado: 03-07-22
I had the dubious luxury of listening to this entire audiobook in one sitting on a very long drive. It seems like Thomas McGuane is drawn to narratives of a particular type of romatic conquest, and he provides example after example of this here. After the 4th or 5th example I began to grow weary. By the ninth example, I was fed up. this audiobook has successfully cured me of my interest in the writing of Thomas McGuane.

Be Warned
Revisado: 12-09-21
The majority of reviews posted here seem to be fake reviews- posted by phony accounts and upvoted by other phony accounts in an effort to make this audiobook seem better than it is. Other titles by this production company have similarly been given phony good reviews. Buy this or not as you see fit, but to base your purchase on phony good reviews is a mistake. I cannot recommend this product, and I can flatly condem the fake reviews.
