If you've ever felt like the "other" or not quite good enough or not motivated or "my life sucks" or that life dealt you a bad hand, or that you've been coasting through a mediocre life and want to change, or, or, or simply that you are not living your best life, this book is for you. This book is all about how to take the lemons that life keeps pelting at you with and crush out lemonade for a better you and a better life. This is grit personified in an entertaining and conversational format.

I can only imagine that the less than 1% of people who didn't like the book 1) are doing awesome living their ultimate best life already and don't need this 2) are in serious denial, 3) really want to stay unmotivated and nothing and I mean nothing will move them to challenge themselves to be a better version of themselves.. Sucking is so much easier than sucking it up and moving forward. Goggins almost ended up there himself because it IS EASIER to just accept the life you stumbled into or as it was given to you.

I hope that we all want more than that for overselves. I know I do.

Also the format is incredible. It's not just the book. It's like the author is a friend and sit with you will you read the book and various points along the way, you discuss with the author how he felt when what you just read happened or why he did did something.

Nothing but praise for this book but I do hope that one day Goggins takes a deep breath and starts to coast a bit. I'm big on constantly challenging myself but even superheroes need a break now and again and some time in their fortress of solitude to drink a chocolate milkshake with donuts without feeling bad about it. (Just don't make it a habit!)

So bad. Even free, total waste of time. Uggh. I keep waiting for something interesting or a twist in the long winded yawn of a story that I just couldn’t relate to anyone in it. But that’s me.

Great book for those interested in real estate and are starting with little or no capital. I learned a lot but WARNING, the market may be on the edge of a bubble again. be very cautious using these techniques. also banks are wise to these games and will turn you down for loans if they have even a hint that you might be "house hacking" also note that no money down doesn't mean you won't trash your reputation, credit, friends and bank account if you are too enthusiastic with too little caution,

I applaud her and her grit but I didn't get anything out of it. In essence it's a story about how she overcame a sudden tragedy. I'm sure writing the book was cathartic for her and did her a lot of good. But there wasn't really anything there for me other than a story about her and her grief.

Stop what you are doing and get this book. Well only if you are over 21. When I see someone as beautiful and confident as Tiffany Haddish, I NEVER IN A MILLION YEAR would guess or suspect that she went through HELL as a child. The worst of the worst experiences. Yet thoughout she made me laugh though all the feels. It should be a depressing book that I wouldn't want to finish. Instead it is life affirming and makes me want so much wonderful in the world for Tiffany. Mental health in the black community is an unspoken tragedy worst than cancer and Tiffany puts it all out there for all human beings to understand the harm that inadequate mental health support has on a family and on a child.

This isn't a spoiler but it tells you a lot about the book - Tiffany was seeing a counseler on a regular basis and would be telling the counselor true and sad information but the counselor kept laughing her butt off during every session. this book is like a counseling session where you don't feel uncomfortable, you feel life affirmed, you feel more compassionate AND you laugh your butt off from page 1 to the end. there is some much truth and guidance in here for how to live an authentic and good life. take out the jokes and summarize the chapters and it would be a self help book.

I was pushing the lawn mower while listening to the Roscoe story. I had to stop several times. I was laughing so hard I couldn't drive the mower straight!!!!!

This book was not what I thought it would be about. It's about addiction and recovery and how one can f up your life and blame everyone in the world never once looking in the mirror. I went out of my way to listen to this book almost every day so I could finish the book. the story was so compelling and I just always wanted to know what happened next. My husband who normally doesn't like the books I like was forced to listen to part of it on a long drive and a few days later he was like 'did you finish that book? I'm wondering what happened to that lady.?" So that speaks a lot to the compelling nature of the story.

It's well told. It's funny. It not for one minute allow you to think you are a better person that she is or that she is a better person than you. In the end, she was just happy to STILL be here because none of us is guaranteed another day whether we are complete f ups or the holiest of the holy. I'm glad she shared this memoir. And her husband is a SAINT!

Okay, I wanted to like this book. I think I liked the first chapter and had to take the religiosity with a grain of salt. But then came chapter two ( or was it 3) when I was listening I was liking it and I thought I knew where he was going. Unfortunately he took a left turn to fit his religious ideas into the constraints of the chapter and it made NO sense. Religion wasn't the problem, I'm all for that but don't make an argument for 1 plus 2 using math and history to get you toward the path of thinking 3 then do the old 20 minutes of rhetoric to have the answer be 27 oranges on dancing on the head of a pin. I did keep listening after he pulled the ole' Lucy (from Peanuts) but I can't recommend this book.

This book is transformational. The story is short but more than just a story this one has a forward by the author and then it has some information about how individual people interpret the story in they are fictional cases. I listen to this story with my grandmother right after the passing of my Mother when my grandmother was trying to decide what was going to do next for her (My grandmothers cheese had moved).

This book really helped her and me and I think he will continue to help us and anyone else throughout their lives to go through change with her and work, personal life, or other.AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY

I’m not a fan of this genre. But I was compelled to finish the book. It’s very male perspective and in ways sexist (but isn’t that part of the point of the genre?) the author did try to make it more balanced which is how it was tolerable to me but the story is okay and the presenter does a good job with voices. Enough to compel me to finish the book because I did want to know how it ended. You may love it. Just not my cup of tea. AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY
