Historia
Wright Thompson’s family farm in Mississippi is 23 miles from the site of one of the most notorious and consequential killings in American history, yet he had to leave the state for college before he learned the first thing about it. To this day, fundamental truths about the crime are widely unknown, including where it took place and how many people were involved. This is no accident: the cover-up began at once, and it is ongoing.

I live in Mississippi and I’m blown away by this information. Stunned, disgusted and brokenhearted, actually. The book is so powerful and made more so by the author’s narration. The facts and revelations have to be presented by a native Mississippian or it won’t work. You’re cheating yourself if you skip this one.

Historia
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job.

Revisado: 03-22-22
Sweet little story about someone that presents as a little different to the world and that world is slow to catch up with her brilliance. Lauren Ambrose is a charm and makes you love every character! I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time and hope to see her name on more books as a reader.

The reader makes a mediocre book very very bad.
Revisado: 02-26-22
If they hire this narrator for the next book, I’ll swear off this series forever.
He’s easily the worst I’ve ever heard and I own at least 300 audible books. I’m not sure what happened to Sean Runnette but please bring him back, or at the very least, fire this guy. He completely ruined this book and listening experience for me. The book was so-so, not nearly up to expectation and then to have this robot reading it with his inconsistent voices and halting speech-I swear to God I almost stopped the book there and wrote a scathing review. As for the book, I feel like there was not enough of Hoagie’s participation, ego, and trademark sarcasm. The storyline was going somewhere and then it wasn’t. It really fell apart at the end.
I also have a question-where is the baby Tracy?

I can’t get enough of these books. They are so entertaining and I love the 80s and 90s references. I especially love the narrator-perfect for Hoagy’s voice!

Not my fave
Revisado: 08-01-21
I love this series so much that I sat through a rather long book that I disliked right away. I’m not sure what it was-the American characters, the disjointed story lines or what. I was vastly relieved when it was over and thought maybe I should listen to The Knowledge again as a palate cleanser. I think I will.

New listener from Mississippi here and I love everything about this pod!! First thing I noticed when I started it was that “he talks like me!), which is a nice change from the others that I listen to. (Especially when he calls Patreon “Patron” so cute. )
I expect plenty of great and entertaining cases because Louisiana crimes are only equaled by Florida crimes amiright.
I love the cases and the your delivery!!

Can’t believe I’m writing this
Revisado: 04-30-20
I can’t believe I’m saying this about a Michael Connelly book but RUN. Run far, run fast because it sucks so bad. It’s horrible characters and their boring dialogue couldn’t be over fast enough. All of this was underscored by a terrible narrator which was a nail in the coffin over and over and over. I made it through the whole thing but Danni glad it’s over. I kept waiting for it to get good but now Im slowly shaking my head as I reel from this letdown.

Historia
Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing. No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father - with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde - with whom she shares a tragic connection - to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.

Hmmmm
Revisado: 03-26-20
Interesting characters (and I love the added ‘articulate’) and other small mentions of things from the Bolitar series. However, the story sort of falls apart. Matthew, a main character and a large part of the storyline sort of disappears. I feel like the book starts in one direction and goes in another and many of characters switch from one type of person to another but without arc or evolution. I hope this makes sense.
I thoroughly enjoyed the witty repartee between all the characters and would have been disappointed had it only been limited to the Bolitar series.
Steven Weber knocks it out of the park, again. I hope he never stops! That’s said, I did notice several times where a character’s name was completely wrong (instead of Layla, he said “Lila”, for example). Whatever. I knew to whom he was referring.
All in all, great new characters that I hope will become a new series!
