Historia

Historia
Journalist, doctor, professor, and CDC-trained disease detective Seema Yasmin, driven by a need to set the record straight, dissects some of the most widely circulating medical myths and pseudoscience. Exploring how epidemics of misinformation can spread faster than microbes, Dr. Yasmin asks why bad science is sometimes more believable and contagious than the facts.

It’s nice that there are people out there who are standing up to misinformation and giving them the tools to protect themselves from the viral BS which is so pervasive.

Historia
Nearly everyone is familiar with holograms - three-dimensional images projected into space with the aid of a laser. Two of the world's most eminent thinkers believe that the universe itself may be a giant hologram, quite literally a kind of image or construct created, at least in part, by the human mind. University of London physicist David Bohm, one of the world's most respected quantum physicists, and Stanford neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, an architect of our modern understanding of the brain, have developed a remarkable new way of looking at the universe.

It is a defense for magic.
Revisado: 08-09-24
The first part of the book was nice and educational, explaining the Holographic Theory of the universe, its plausibility and implications. Then the book transitioned into a defense for magic. It kept getting worse. I got to the point about fairy island. How there used to be fairy sightings on this island, but after modern education came to the island, the number of fairy sightings declined. Instead of accepting to obvious conclusion that fairies aren’t real, the author speculates about maybe how it was belief in fairies that brought them into existence. If this book were presented as a fictional novel, then I would be fine with it, but there are real negative consequences when people start to believe in this sort of nonsense.

Historia
Around the world, geophysicists and mathematicians, oceanographers and meteorologists, engineers, economists, psychologists, and philosophers have been using their expertise to develop a deep understanding of the crises we face. Greta Thunberg has created The Climate Book in partnership with more than one hundred of these experts in order to equip us all with this knowledge. Alongside them, Thunberg shares her own stories of learning, demonstrating, and uncovering greenwashing around the world. This is one of our biggest problems, she shows, but also our greatest source of hope.

One of the Most Influential Books I’ve Read
Revisado: 09-17-23
This book has changed my mind more than any other. Greta Thunberg will take her place as being not just among the most influential people of our time, but among the most influential people to ever live. We either switch to renewables by choice or by force, and I can image a future, more sustainable world, where children write about how Greta saved humanity from being sent to the dark ages. We only have about 40 more years of oil reserves left.
I would appreciate a Spanish translation of this audiobook.
