Historia
Some people think I’m jealous of my sister, but it isn’t true. I love her confidence; her free spirit. She’s the reckless one in the family, always wearing skimpy clothes and posting her life on social media. I prefer reading, walking my rescue dog and early nights in my New York apartment. It’s not that I meant to keep her a secret from my boyfriend, Bradley, but she just didn’t come up in conversation.

Couldn’t stop listening

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing the whole time and the ending was unpredictable. I found it entertaining without dull/boring moments. Definitely recommend.

Historia
In a boarded-up house on a dead-end street at the edge of the wild Washington woods lives a family of three. A teenage girl who isn’t allowed outside, not after last time. A man who drinks alone in front of his TV, trying to ignore the gaps in his memory. And a house cat who loves napping and reading the Bible. An unspeakable secret binds them together, but when a new neighbor moves in next door, what is buried out among the birch trees may come back to haunt them all.

Too weird for me
Revisado: 10-25-21
I’m not sure why this story has such a high rating. I was confused through most of the story and kept through it til the end hoping it would get better but it just got more and more weird and delusional. You gotta be into some pretty weird stuff and talking cats to be into this book.

Great book
Revisado: 01-06-20
I always read the reviews before choosing a book and after reading these ones I was extremely hesitant about this book but I’m glad I decided to listen anyway. It was hard to listen at times but I feel as if the details of the murders/ torture weren’t so intense, you wouldn’t have the full spectrum of how evil the suspect was. It pretty much made the story what it was. If you are a victim of sexual abuse, maybe steer clear of this book, but otherwise I did not feel traumatized like some readers have said. I think some of the reviews are a little dramatic. If you’re a fan of murder mysteries and don’t have a sensitive stomach, give it a shot. You’ll know in the first few chapters whether or not you can handle it.

Historia
Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: She must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

Not as good as expected
Revisado: 12-19-19
I chose this book because it had great reviews and I was looking for something similar to Gone Girl. This book had nowhere near the same suspense that I expected. It was pretty much all about self harm. The story went very slowly in my opinion and I found myself bored. I wanted to finish the book to see what kind of twists might happen. I definitely predicted the ending, it wasn’t hard to figure out. The narrator was a little monotonous and didn’t keep me interested. Lots of people seemed to love this book but I just wasn’t one of them.
