Historia
Steven Levy's classic book traces the exploits of the computer revolution's original hackers - those brilliant and eccentric nerds from the late 1950s through the early '80s who took risks, bent the rules, and pushed the world in a radical new direction. With updated material from noteworthy hackers such as Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Richard Stallman, and Steve Wozniak, Hackers is a fascinating story that begins in early computer research labs and leads to the first home computers.

More than entertaining, this book is important
Revisado: 07-01-22
Levy brings to life the colorful characters and sometimes clashing ideals of the people who hacked together the foundations of our modern, digital world -- for love and obsession and occasionally money. These are the people, along with some others to be sure, we can thank for amazing tech and the amazing convenience of daily life.

Historia
First published in 1875, General William T. Sherman's memoir was one of the first from the Civil War and was offered to the public because, as Sherman wrote in his dedication, "no satisfactory history" of the war was yet available. Although Memoirs has been revised and corrected many times over the years, Sherman famously never changed the original text of his recollections.

Historia
From Andre Agassi, one of the most beloved athletes in history and one of the most gifted men ever to step onto a tennis court, a beautiful, haunting autobiography. Agassi brings a near-photographic memory to every pivotal match and every relationship. Never before has the inner game of tennis and the outer game of fame been so precisely limned. In clear, taut prose, Agassi evokes his loyal brother, his wise coach, his gentle trainer, all the people who help him regain his balance and find love at last with Stefanie Graf.

This is a rare gem of a story

I just finished listening, and it is fantastic. I'm stunned. I'm letting it sit queued up in the Audible app even though it's finished because I don't want it to go. The Germans have the ideal term for this: verweille doch, du bist so schon (please linger, beautiful moment).
Spoiler alert: Agassi hates tennis, which makes no sense until you realize that hate is not the opposite of, nor a bar to, love.

Before, during, and after the conquest
Revisado: 09-26-21
First, I disagree with the folks who didn't like the narrator. He was good. No issues. As for the content, I was pleased. My knowledge was limited to 1066 and Hastings and a smidge of Hereward the Wake. This book filled in all the rich detail I was looking for...
Who was William?
What was his background, especially military?
Why invade?
What became of the English?
How many rebellions, and what really occurred?
All the answers are here, presented well. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will listen to it again soon.

Historia
Kevin Mitnick was the most elusive computer break-in artist in history. He accessed computers and networks at the world’s biggest companies—and however fast the authorities were, Mitnick was faster, sprinting through phone switches, computer systems, and cellular networks. He spent years skipping through cyberspace, always three steps ahead and labeled unstoppable.

Top of the canon for famous hackers
Revisado: 08-26-20
Mitnick is the most famous hackers of all time, and his story is excellent from start to finish. It's a must read for anyone who wants to see just what sort of power a hacker can command. They're far more sophisticated, and more entertaining, than other types of criminals. Only Frank Abagnale comes close.
