Amazing series, horrible narrator
Revisado: 06-19-23
This series has been an awesome journey so far. The author does an amazing job of making the reader/listener fall in love with the main characters and feel actual loathing for the baddies, but the main narrator mispronounces SO MANY WORDS!! Mimicry gets pronounced as me-me-cry. Especially gets pronounced with a w and u. Es-pesh-u-wall-e. The list goes on. I would get immersed in the story just to get slammed out by a common word being butchered. Regardless, I’m anxious for the 5th book.

Narrator: awesome!!
Story: amazing!!
I loved all 3 books in the series for so many reasons. The unconditional camaraderie and the sprinkles of romance, but the overall story was well written with plenty of little twists.

Historia
This live performance of a powerful police procedural comes to life through the artistry of Celeste Lecesne and is accompanied by the original music of Duncan Sheik. Celeste portrays every character in a small Jersey Shore town as they unravel the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who has gone missing. A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is gone, Leonard becomes an unexpected inspiration as the town’s citizens question how they live, who they love, and what they leave behind.

Immersive
Revisado: 10-18-18
I definitely started this book with a biased opinion of Neil Gaiman, but it like all his other works I've read or listened to does not disappoint. The world in the story is deliciously immersive. I think maybe because it is, in fact, our world. It's just been embellished in both a luminous and enigmatic way. I love Neil Gaiman as an author, but hearing his written words spoken by himself, in the way he meant them to be emphasized is wonderful.

Historia
When they met at an airport, it was love at first sight. But in time, everything collapsed. As an unnamed but unforgettable woman muses on her life—from meet cute to marriage and parenthood—her recollections inexorably build to a devastating truth. In this shattering performance, Carey Mulligan, star of the critically lauded drama An Education, captivates audiences with playwright Dennis Kelly’s harrowing ruminations on family, ambition, gender, and violence.

Life Changing
Revisado: 10-18-18
The lead up to the big reveal towards the end of this monologue is wonderful. It's relative on some level for most people that are or ever have been part of a family unit. Life is hectic and the chapters of life may read so entirely different from one chapter to the next and this was wonderfully represented. The reveal towards the end was shocking, breath-taking, life changing. I listened to this 3 times in a row.

Historia
A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.

Enchanting
Revisado: 08-24-18
For me, this story was absolutely enchanting. I was constantly on the "edge of my seat" in anticipation for the next fantastical chapter. I actually listened to the book on Audible since I have an hour and a half commute home from work each day, but I'm glad I experienced the story this way. The Audible narration is done by Neil Gaiman and I feel likely performed with different, little subtle emphases at just the right moments. As intended by the author himself.
