Historia
Two astronomers have detected a strange, pulsing signal from deep space. Within hours, the US government goes into lockdown, restricting airspace and scrubbing scientific data. Was the signal an intercepted communication revealing alarming plans for an enemy’s military strike? Or has humanity at long last found proof of extraterrestrial life?

short, thought-provoking, and fun
Revisado: 12-18-24
this was a well produced well-written story, with a thought-provoking premise, and an ethical dilemma that will keep me thinking for some time about how I would approach the same challenge. it's worth the two and a half hours to listen to it and enjoy it.

Historia
After the latest mission of the starship Flying Dutchman, Earth is safe not just for a year, but for hundreds of years. The ship’s weary crew wonders what they will do with their lives in peacetime, but the enemy has other plans, and there is danger on the Homefront. Starring Zachary Quinto, R.C. Bray, Kate Mulgrew, Robert Picardo, and everyone's favorite AI, Skippy the Magnificent, alongside a full cast. Includes plenty of pew-pew-pew, original sound composition, and maybe some singing by R.C. Bray.

Outstanding fun!

I don't normally write reviews but for Homefront I needed to make some comments. If you love the Expeditionary Force series then you absolutely need to listen to this audio drama. It is amazing! There were moments where I was so sucked into the story that I felt like I was there with Joe Bishop, Col Smyth, Sgt Adams, and the shiny beer can. The music, sound effects, different voice actors took one of my favorite audio book series and turned it into an experience that I will be listening to many times before I put it down.
I wish more of my favorite series would get this treatment. I know some people have mentioned in their reviews that some voices where difficult to hear because of the effects or music but in my book that just added to the drama. When the action was happening and our heroes are trying to talk over sirens and explosions it really just added to the realism for me. Buy this book and enjoy it, you won't regret it.

Good story, not so good performance
Revisado: 05-11-15
What did you like best about Deadly Apparition? What did you like least?
I always enjoy alternate history or alternate timeline books. The story was fast paced, fun, and filled with characters that were easy to empathize with. The only thing I didn't like about this book was the reading performance. The narrator was fine, but the audio quality made it sound like he was reading inside a tin can or something. It didn't have a fresh clean sound that I am used too in most other books. It wasn't so bad I couldn't enjoy the story, but it was noticeable the entire time. I think they should try to remaster the recording or something and clean it up a little.
