Would you listen to Fourth of July Creek again? Why?
Sure. The colorful similes, metaphors and illustrative writing was a treat to my ears.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Rose. I've got teenagers and remember making all sorts of bad decisions at that age.
What does MacLeod Andrews and Jenna Lamia bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The Jenna chapters were outstanding. The woman has talent! So does, Andrews. He captured the characters well and was an outstanding narrator. He's no Bronson Pinchot, but he's got chops.
If you could take any character from Fourth of July Creek out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Pete. I like to drink.

Knuckle-dragging frat boys.
Has I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, but I expect something written a little better. The guy went to Duke and writes like a 9th grader (at best)? My respect for that school just turned south.
How could the performance have been better?
He could have had someone who knows how to use inflection and dramatic pauses.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell?
If I were the editor, I would have given him some Hunter S. Thompson to read and said:

How did it happen? The last two sci-fi books I've read have characters revealing their innermost feeeeelings on every other page. ugh.
This could have been an outstanding novel. It is great concept, but enough with the relationships.

Gaiman is a genius, but he's no narrator. I'm not sure about how good the story is, because Neil's mellow, understated tone drones on and on. I fell asleep during a key battle scene! I recommend that you check out "American Gods" instead.

Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more (except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdalan) and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.
