Historia
Meet Dolores Price. She's 13, wise-mouthed but wounded, having bid her childhood goodbye. Beached like a whale in front of her bedroom TV, she spends the next few years nourishing herself with the Mallomars, potato chips, and Pepsi her anxious mother supplies. When she finally rolls into young womanhood at 257 pounds, Dolores is no stronger and life is no kinder. But this time she's determined to rise to the occasion and give herself one more chance before really going belly-up.

Loved the book, but the narrator was so so so bad
Revisado: 03-07-25
This book was so beautiful, but I listened to the entire thing on 1.5 speed. She takes extremely long breaks between sentences and there is very obvious background noise

When Jack and Elizabeth meet as college students in the gritty '90s Chicago art scene, the two quickly join forces and hold on tight, each eager to claim a place in the thriving underground scene with an appreciative kindred spirit. Beautiful, real & heart wrenching.

Absolutely loved this book. The main characters are relatable as parents and partners, and the author describes their pain and inner workings so beautifully.

Historia
Call Me by Your Name first swept across the world in 2007. It is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents' cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.

Heart shattering, real, and moving
Revisado: 12-29-24
One of my top books this year. It genuinely makes you feel like you are in Italy with them, navigating the unfamiliar feelings and emotions of a first real love. Absolutely beautiful prose, and you feel everything Elio feels. Will come back to this one again and again.

Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

We get it .. you like twists
Revisado: 10-21-24
I hated every second of this book. There are about 150 twists, most of which are predictable and the others are just thrown in because … I don’t know actually. Don’t waste a credit on this book. The narration is bad, the dialogue is cringe, and the story is terrible. Worst book I’ve read in 2024 for me.

Total Ripoff ..
Revisado: 07-25-24
If you’ve read The Last Mrs. Parrish, there is no need to bother with this book. She stole probably 75% of the plot from Mrs Parrish. It’s extremely obvious she was heavily inspired by that book, so though this is done well, it’s not original at all.

Such a feeling of dread throughout- SO GOOD
Revisado: 12-31-23
I LOVED this book. The characters are so complex and you spend a lot of the first half trying to piece together what you think is going on. Such amazing story telling and the performances were incredible. There was such an eerie feeling throughout that kept me hooked. Even my husband who is not a reader was hanging around me and when I asked what he was doing, he said he wanted to know what was going to happen next and he was hooked too!
My only complaint was the last couple chapters were kinda dull. Since the rest of the book was so full of twists and turns, I was expecting something to pop out toward the end too. But overall, I really loved this. Hope to see a series or movie based on this soon!

Historia
A kiss, a touch. A smile and a beating heart. Love and sex and dreams, art and drugs and the madness of youth. Betrayal and heartbreak, regret and pain, the melancholy of age. Katerina is a sweeping love story alternating between 1992 Paris and Los Angeles in 2018. At its center are a young writer and a young model on the verge of fame, both reckless, impulsive, addicted, and deeply in love. Twenty-five years later, the writer is rich, famous, and numb, and he wants to drive his car into a tree, when he receives an anonymous message that draws him back to the life, and possibly the love, he abandoned years prior.

breathtaking and beautiful
Revisado: 07-25-23
a million little pieces is my favorite book of all time and i have read it at least 10 times. i kept starting katerina and getting bored and not continuing, but this time i did. for whatever reason, the first half of the book is pretty bland to me but god it gets so good.
james frey has such an amazing way with words, and those complaining about his narration of the story don’t seem to understand his writing. i think the way he narrates is perfect and it’s exactly how i read his writing. it’s a stream of consciousness and the repetition always hammers whatever he’s saying into my brain. in my opinion, he read it perfectly and i assume the way it was meant to be read.
all that being said, this book is so beautiful. it is such an accurate and raw description of intense, love and unbelievable hurt. you feel their love so deeply. i really can’t say enough about this book, it is so good and will break your heart.
