Historia
Viv’s career with the renowned mercenary company Rackam’s Ravens isn’t going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she’s packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk – so far from the action that she worries she’ll never be able to return to it. What’s a thwarted soldier of fortune to do? Spending her hours at a struggling bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted. Even though it may be exactly what she needs. Still, adventure isn’t far away.

Unexpected prequel
Revisado: 04-05-24
I very much enjoyed authors previous work, so I didn’t read much going in to this story. A “slice of life” kind of story, with a surprise at the ending, which I suspected, but the conformation made it that much more gratifying.

Historia
Zachary Ezra Rawlins is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a mysterious book hidden in the stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors, and nameless acolytes, he reads something strange: a story from his own childhood. Bewildered by this inexplicable book and desperate to make sense of how his own life came to be recorded, Zachary uncovers a series of clues - a bee, a key, and a sword.

Contrary to other reviews
Revisado: 01-21-23
Contrary to other reviews I think it’s worth it, if you get past the midpoint and finish. You really have to concentrate to keep track of the stories in the middle part of the book, but once you get through it, it all makes sense. And it’s beautiful. Book 6 was my favorite. The writing is captivating and I couldn’t predict what would happen next.
