Vera Stanhope- an unstoppable listen!!!
Revisado: 04-28-25
The detail in the book as opposed to what can be included in a television drama is irreplaceable in the full experience as you read or listen to this novel. Excellent character development and insight into the human psyche.

A perfect walk into what it was to live during WWII
Revisado: 06-19-23
This story gives the reader a realistic look at the mixed feelings and insurmountable odds people faced during World War II. The inclusion of Peter Woodhouse, a Border Collie, is genius. The effects of war on families and children and the ability to survive, integrity intact, all excellently portrayed.

Absolutely perfect performance!
Revisado: 02-04-19
Having listened to many audiobooks over the years, I can honestly say that I have never heard a performance as excellent, as true to each character and to each regional accent, as well as era as this reader has delivered. He takes the listener directly back to that place and time which Charles Dickens so accurately portrayed.

How Life can Be Lived
Revisado: 02-19-18
This book is a bright and balanced view of life depending on individual choices. It’s depiction of what AA is and how it works is excellent. The realities of the struggles in codependent relationships, addiction recovery and what it takes to rise above a difficult upbringing are very well portrayed. A lot to learn here while on a well written rollicking good ride - which Maeve Binchy always provides. The reader is also tops. It’s been great to be back in Ireland.
