Historia
The mission is simple. Escort an emissary to an intergalactic peace summit. Try not to get in the way. Lt. Magnus and his 79th Recon Team have certainly handled worse, after all. But when an explosion rocks the tower and sends everyone into a panic, Magnus and his asset find themselves cut off from the rest of the team. Worse still, a dying alien chieftain gives them a priceless drive of intel, marking them for death. The mission has officially changed. With enemies on all sides, Magnus must do everything in his power to protect the emissary and escape the tower.

Historia
The daughter of a US Senator is monitoring her social media presence when she finds a picture of herself on a strange blog. And there are other pictures...of the children of other influential Washington politicians, walking or standing outside their schools, each identified by name. Surrounding the photos are texts of vicious political rants from a motley variety of radical groups. It's obviously alarming - is there an unstable extremist tracking the loved ones of powerful politicians with deadly intent? But when the FBI is called in, there isn't much the feds can do.

Historia
In 48 hours, the Earth will be hit by a coronal mass ejection (CME) from the sun, a "Carrington Event" that has the power to shut down and possibly destroy the world's electrical infrastructure. To try and prevent permanent damage, everything goes dark prior to the hit: Global communications are shut down; hospital emergency generators are disconnected; the entire internet, media broadcasting, and cell phone systems are turned off. Will the world's population successfully defend itself in the wake of the CME, or will mass panic lead to the breakdown of society as we know it?

Aviation history at its best!
Revisado: 02-02-18
Anyone who has any interest in aviation has to get this book. Well written and well preformed.
I knew these guys were aviation pioneers but I didn’t know all they did for aviation. Even more surprising is what they did in both world wars.
True American heroes!

Typical; its everybody else’s fault!
Revisado: 01-25-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Any one that blames everyone else for there problems.
What could James Lee Burke have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Not include his liberal agenda. How many times do New Orleans'ers need to be plummeted beneath the sea before you realize you live in the wrong place?
How did the narrator detract from the book?
It’s a fictional book and an entire chapter is about the "evil" corporate, oil and drilling companies. People dying on the rigs and massive oil spills. At the same time the main character is hallucinating back to Vietnam and a local poor, mistreated, drug addict, out of wedlock welfare recipient that could have, would have been a super star singer! How about just doing a good job at what you’re being paid to do. I would have thought that PETA would have been a great supporter of the “spill” so those murdering shrimpers and clamers couldn’t kill those poor crustaceans!
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Creole Belle?
The left wing political rhetoric.
Any additional comments?
The last Burke I will read. I actually get paid to get up every morning and go to work. Then they write me a check for the work I have done. I then spend the small amount of money I have left after the government takes most of it on what I want. I don’t want any more of Jimmy's books!

Ancient Egypt. Land of the Pharaohs. A kingdom built on gold. A legend shattered by greed. Now the Valley of Kings lies ravaged by war, drained of its lifeblood, as weak men inherit the cherished crown. On the eve of the festival of Osiris, the loyal subjects of the Pharaoh gather in Thebes to pay tribute to their leader.
Exploding with all the passion and rage of a bygone time, River God is a masterpiece of historical writing.
