For those who are not lung specialists, this book is fabulous. The author covers lung function, physiology, gas exchange, and reviews several lung diseases, treatments and medical developments. Thumbs up.

Historia
Don and Mimi Galvin seemed to be living the American dream. After World War II, Don's work with the Air Force brought them to Colorado, where their 12 children perfectly spanned the baby boom: the oldest born in 1945, the youngest in 1965. In those years, there was an established script for a family like the Galvins—aspiration, hard work, upward mobility, domestic harmony. But behind the scenes was a different story: psychological breakdown, sudden shocking violence, hidden abuse. By the mid-1970s, six of the 10 Galvin boys, one after another, were diagnosed as schizophrenic.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

This is beautifully narrated and enlightening book. It does not estrange those of different classes or political bent. Stunning work.

The next step was exploration of this new geographical possession. Thus began the unbelievable four-year odyssey chronicled in Lewis and Clark: The Great American Expedition.

Irritating
Revisado: 06-05-11
Ugh. I was unable to tolerate the distractingly bad acting ( characters were "acted" out). I stopped listening because of this. Perhaps there was merit to the writing, but since the narration & acting were so grating I'll never know.
