She is a good writer; makes a lot of funny points in the book. I liked her reflections on her father's life throughout. I have liked birth stories ever since I started reading them when I was first about to become a mom. This one is a true, rich story..

Comprehensive look at the cultural factors in the workplace and in gender norms that then play out into structural circumstances that make life challenging for working parents. She spoke from personal experience as well which gave her work more credibility in my opinion. There has been an unequal valuing of care and competitive productivity in the US and yet both pieces are essential. Good work, Professor Slaughter!

Maybe I'd enjoy it if I could get past the first chapter but... I got too annoyed. Nothing interesting to me about a liberal book publisher trying to "enlighten and educate" a Christian. I wanted a novel, not Facebook-level opinions. Maybe I'll look for Theodore Dreiser on audio...

I don't believe schools need to be tailor-made or uniquely designed to the individual student; I think that sets up a philosophy of entitlement. Of course schools could do more to engage all kinds of learners who all deserve an engaging education. Then again that may absolutely be necessary in the case of autism. I was hoping for some advice that was actionable for our family but we do not deal with autism, so just not the right book for us.
