Historia
Adèle appears to have the perfect life. A respected journalist, she lives in a flawless Parisian apartment with her surgeon husband and their young son. But beneath the veneer of "having it all", she is bored - and consumed by an insatiable need for sex, whatever the cost. Struggling to contain the twin forces of compulsion and desire, she begins to orchestrate her life around her one-night stands and extramarital affairs, arriving late to work and lying to her husband about where she’s been, until she becomes ensnared in a trap of her own making.

this book was great, the way it's written felt like a movie. I got lost in each twist and turn of the book and breathlessly waited for the end as I realized I had 30 minutes left in my audiobook. what would happen next!??? a great read.

Historia
Harriet Ann Jacob's autobiography documents her life as a slave and how she attained freedom for herself and her children. Harrowing in its descriptions of sexual abuse, Jacob's slave narrative is notable for the appeal it made to abolitionist women to open their eyes to the realities of slavery. Deemed too shocking for reading audiences at the time, the book was shelved before it was published in 1861 near the start of the Civil War.

Revisado: 03-16-25
This book was heartbreaking, hopeful, scary and shocking all at once. How many times did this happen in our history as black people? A must read. The way the author drew me in with her words and descriptions...I needed to know what happened next. And now I want to know what happened to everyone after.

Shielded by her mother’s position as the estate’s medicine woman and cherished by the Master’s sister, she is set apart from the others on the plantation, belonging to neither world.
