i fell back in love with reading because of this series
Revisado: 03-02-25
the title really says it all.
this book was the first book that completely captivated my imagination and my heart probably since harry potter first stole my heart. this series was that same depth of enthralled just now as a young adult. Ive never gotten more emotionally invested in a character (and group of characters) than i have with this series. i fell back in love with reading and escaping to imagined lands and people again.
the writing is superb and grows with the reader and creates realistic choices to make while never straying from the personality of the character even if its not what we would do, or want them to do, but it stays true to personality traits that eventually grow and eveolve just like all people do.
i also love the lack of smutt, its just a good old fashioned exciting and alluring storyline with political and magical intrigue, that i think heavy romance aspects would have took away from the depth of this journey.
i do love me some SJM smutt, but i also love her writing without it too.

perfect story but constantly skipping ruined the performance
Revisado: 12-17-23
the review title says it all. i absolutely loved the graphic audio, but the skipping really interfered with the experience. also i think it is ridiculous that they split 10hours into 2 separate credits when they have other graphic audio performances that are 10hours. really shitty way to take advantage of your customers.
didnt want to impact the books overall rating too harshly because amazon is greedy but this needs to be acknowledged

Underwhelming to say the least
Revisado: 06-29-23
After reading all the reviews i may have went into this with too high of expectations possibly?
But i got about 77% of the way through and was still waiting for all the "twists and turns" and realized there is maybe 1 twist and maybe 1 turn but its probably gonna be at the very end....
Even that "twist and turn" was underwhelming....more like a slight veer off a road around a soft bend that you easily regain control of?
Idk....but it definitely was not an addictive page turner, i guess?
Also, i feel like the southern accents could have been vooced by a better narrator maybe?
