Historia
Deep in the heart of Appalachia stands a crooked farmhouse miles from any road. The Morrows keep to themselves, and it's served them well so far. When girls go missing off the side of the highway, the cops don't knock on their door. Which is a good thing, seeing what's buried in the Morrows' backyard. But 19-year-old Michael Morrow isn't like the rest of his family. He doesn't take pleasure in the screams that echo through the trees.

deliciously nasty
Revisado: 11-30-23
I had attempted to listen to this multiple times before finally completing it. The narration is good, but very slow. I had to listen to this at 1.5 speed because 1.0 or even 1.2 felt way too slow. The story itself is pretty good with some nasty twists or the knife along the way.

Yes, the ghosts have gone missing. And that means serious trouble.

Lora Senf sends us back to Blight Harbor
Revisado: 10-23-23
In THE NIGHTHOUSE KEEPER, Lora Senf sends us back to Blight Harbor, the seventh most haunted town, in Book 2 of the Blight Harbor trilogy, where ghosts live among the living residents. We follow Evelyn Von Rathe after the events of THE CLACKITY, as she investigates why some of the town's ghostly residents begin to disappear without a trace.
With Evie's trusty sidekick, Bird, she meets a new character named Lark and her own trusty sidekick. Clyde the spider to help her along the way. Lark is a really wonderful side character as charming and lovable as Evie herself, and is definitely a standout character and a welcome addition to the story.
The Nighthouse Keeper tugs at the heartstrings due to Senf's creative world building and messages of love and family, while at the same time remaining spooky and scary, but still appropriate for young readers. Blight Harbor is a great place for young readers to get into both the horror and fantasy genres. For fans of Coraline and The Clackity (book 1), The Nighthouse Keeper is another delight.
Lastly, I've never heard a more suited narrator for Evie Von Rathe and the Blight Harbor stories than Kimberly Woods. Her reading is absolutely wonderful and helps give Evie a wonderful and memorable voice. Truly stunning!
I love this series and can't wait for Book 3.

Historia
In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in the house, but the property - complete with boathouse and swimming pool - and the price were too good to pass up. This is the shocking true story of an American dream that turned into a nightmare beyond imagining for the Lutz family, who were forced to flee their new home in terror.

A difficult read, but not in a great way.
Revisado: 06-16-23
The book mentions the address "112 Ocean Avenue" no less than 75 times throughout its length, and it was absolutely exhausting. It took me over a month to finish this, not because I was too busy to listen, but that I was just not in a hurry to jump back in.
Just because a book has scary words does not make it so.
The big climax is pretty nice, but I feel that it was too little, too late, as I was slowly losing interest well before the final few chapters.
Honestly, the Afterword by the author was the most interesting part of this whole experience.
I will say the narrator is actually fantastic and did a phenomenal job. This disappointment is in the story itself. Performance-wise, I have no complaints.
Some people will love this, and that's totally cool. If I could give this 2.5 stars, I would, but I'm willing to push this to 3 rather than drop it to 2, partially because of the ambiguity whether to hoe much is fiction and what could be true. As I stated a moment ago, the Afterword is the most interesting aspect of The Amityville Horror.
Thank you for reading.

Historia
Everyone has wanted their favorite book to be real, if only for a moment. Everyone has wished to meet their favorite characters, if only for a day. But be careful in that wish, for even a history laid in ink can be repaid in flesh and blood, and reality is far deadlier than fiction...especially on Addington Isle.

Revisado: 04-08-23
Layered, thematic, cinematic, but it seemed like there were a few errors in sound quality. The author himself reads the twisted fairy tale very well, though if you want different voices or accents for the different characters, you won't see that here.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

wonderful dramatisation narrated by the legendarily talented Laura Dern and a full cast, I feel nothing but love and contentment for these wonderful characters and fantastic voiceover work.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Not nearly as shocking as lead to believe.
Revisado: 11-25-19
The narration by Steve White was fine, however the story itself written by Brian Burrough kind of left me a little uninterested. THE DEMON NEXT DOOR sounds a little like a news report or memoir or reinactment of some kind in stead of a novel, and details are left kind of vague and causes a story about an evil serial killer and rapist is not nearly as shocking or gruesome as I had expected and hoped it would be. Just had an overall feeling of Generic Killer vibe to it with nothing special about it to let it sound out or be memorable.
THE DEMON NEXT DOOR is not bad, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to listen to it again.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Revisado: 11-22-19
Zachary Quinto narrates the hell out of THE DISPATCHER, and I would love to see a film adaptation of this, maybe even starring Quinto in it as well.
This story is short and sweet, full of suspense and mystery, a bit of humor, and a strange and really fascinating concept that I really enjoyed.
Definitely worth your time. I wish it was a bit longer, but THE DISPATCHER still manages to hook you in. I wouldn't mind a series of stories that take place in this world.

Fairy tales and monsters are real
Revisado: 11-13-19
Beautifully written and adapted, Guillermo del Toro never fails to transport is into his fantastic worlds. He is one of the most magical story tellers and creative minds, and his monsters are truly beautiful, and often views his villains as mankind, not the monsters. I believe in Monsters. I believe in Guillermo del Toro.
Narration is perfect, writing is perfect. Pan's Labyrinth: The Labyrinth of the Faun is perfect.
