Historia
From the author of Hitler: Ascent, 1889-1939 comes a riveting account of the dictator's final years, when he got the war he wanted but his leadership led to catastrophe for his nation, the world, and himself. Volker Ullrich offers fascinating new insight into Hitler's character and personality, vividly portraying the insecurity, obsession with minutiae, and narcissistic penchant for gambling that led Hitler to overrule his subordinates and then blame them for his failures.

Historia
Francis Parkman's journal - written more than 150 years ago, in 1846 - provides an eye-witness account of one of the grandest adventures in American history. At age 23, the Harvard-educated Bostonian traveled the Rocky Mountains, living among the Dakota Sioux. In his journal, he captured the color, spirit, and perspective of his era, as well as the exuberant confidence that was the mark of his time. Frank Muller's dramatic reading brings this captivating record to life.

Possibly my favorite Audible book.
Revisado: 04-24-23
I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy a book about the Oregon Trail as I mostly read history of wars, but since the book was short and I hadn’t read anything on the Oregon Trail before, I determined to give it a shot. I am so glad I did!
The author’s writing style is unique. The descriptions are such a joy imagine as you read, that I would literally smile while listening to the descriptions. His descriptions reminded me of a painter… each word carefully chosen as a painter carefully chooses and mixes his colors. It was relaxing in the extreme to read these details; they never bored me as each description painted something new in my mind.
The narrator himself is on another level. I can’t describe how perfect his voice was for this book. Fabulous job!
If you can get past the first twenty minutes which are mostly introductions and background, the detailed life of those on the Oregon trail will be sure to amaze you. It’s hard to believe that these events took place less than seventy years before WW1.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

Historia
In the darkest days of the American Revolution, Francis Marion and his band of militia freedom fighters kept hope alive for the patriot cause during the critical British southern campaign. Like the Robin Hood of legend, Marion and his men attacked from secret hideaways before melting back into the forest or swamp. Employing insurgent tactics that became commonplace in later centuries, Marion and his brigade inflicted losses on the enemy that were individually small but cumulatively a large drain on British resources and morale.

Great job to both the author and narrator.

A phenomenal book on the War for Independence in the Southern theatre and one of it’s greatest heroes. The narrator did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend you give this a listen.

Some “glitches.”

There are some very interesting glitches during the story, and he misreads some words, but he’s phenomenal with his expression and his voice is easy to listen too. Would listen again.
