Historia
Evangeline Canterbury has always seemed perfectly composed and perfectly content. No one knows the fear and turmoil she holds inside, and she is happy to hide behind her façade. That is, until she meets Bennett Somerset on a night when her façade has fallen by the wayside, her misery visible for miles.

Loved The One In My Heart!
Revisado: 06-28-23
I love this book so much, I listened to it twice! I loved the characters, and the development of the key characters’ relationship. My only disappointment is that the author didn’t expand the details shared in the postscript more. I also enjoyed the narration, and thought the reader’s voice suited the main character well, and enjoyed every moment without the need to rush through it by changing the speed.

Historia
What a delight it is to finally be able to enjoy a simple meal again! I have been in the throes of morning sickness for the last few months as Darcy and I prepare to welcome a brand-new addition to our little family. Now that I am feeling better, I have realized I am dreadfully bored! It seems that all my nearest and dearest are off leading their own busy lives while I sit at home and attempt to train our two adorably naughty puppies. Fun as it may be, it is hard not to long for a little adventure, a change of pace, before my true confinement begins when the baby comes.

Historia
After a long week lobbying on Capitol Hill, all Karina Cardinal wants to do is chill with Netflix and her boyfriend, Patrick Dunne. Instead, she's slipping her aching feet into red stilettos for his parent's annual holiday bash. When she accidentally interrupts Patrick's father in his study, her embarrassment is tempered by suspicion that Martin Dunne and his dapper, secretive guest are hiding something. Maybe the painting she barely glimpses right before it disappears behind a secret panel.

I Loved the Karina Cardinal Series!
Revisado: 10-12-21
After reading and loving Ellen Butler's book, The Brass Compass, I discovered the Karina Cardinal Series. I downloaded the first 4 audio books while recovering from a back injury, and listened to the first 4 books in 5 days, then downloaded the Kindle version of the 5th book, which is not yet in audio format. I loved every book. They are all great! Each one is a page turner, but all have funny aspects to them as well. I really enjoy meeting and loving a character that's part of a series, and really enjoyed this series, and Karina's character, including her intelligence, courage, and ability to think on her feet. The fifth book was my favorite, and I'm looking forward to the audio version coming out. I hope that Ellen Butler will continue to write more in the Karina Cardinal Series. Justine Eyre also does a great job with the narration, which is excellent! Overall, the series is really great. I highly recommend it!

This was a fabulous audio book. I loved every second of it! It’s good to know that the main character was based on 3 real female agents during WWII. I highly recommend it!

And there’s Lillian herself, whose life has taken a turn she didn’t expect....

Loved the sequel!
Revisado: 08-02-19
I loved The School of Essential Ingredients, and hated when it came to an end. I wanted to know more about the characters lives, which were transformed by the sense of community they developed in Lillian’s cooking school. I was delighted when I discovered the sequel, and it was equally wonderful. The author’s brilliant prose is a pleasure, especially in the wonderful audio version. I only wish it was a little longer, or part of a longer series.

A lovely Christmas story!

This is a wonderful short story about Christmas in England during World War II. I was enjoying it so much, I wish the author would add a few more chapters, and perhaps turn it into a full-size book.

What a fun book series!
Revisado: 12-29-18
I have listened to every book in the Royal Spyness series and absolutely loved them. I was going through a stressful home remodel, and looked forward every night to listening to the adventures of Lady Georgiana Rannoch as a relaxing end to my day--a book series about a young royal living around the time of the Great Depression, and the creative solutions she develops to providing for herself, while at the same time solving a murder mystery. The book series is fun, light-hearted, and puts a smile on your face, with the joy of a budding romance, and the added adventure of a mystery. It also gives interesting insights in the life of a royal, and what it was like to live in Europe during that time period. The reader is fabulous, and won a special award for this series. Her Royal Spyness is book one in the series, but there is also a short prequel--Masked Ball at Broxley Manor, which you can purchase for a few dollars. I enjoyed this series so much that I was sad to come to the end of it, and look forward to the newest book coming out in Audio. I highly recommend Her Royal Spyness!
