Historia
William Barr’s first tenure as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush was largely the result of chance, while his second tenure under President Donald Trump a deliberate and difficult choice. In this candid memoir, Barr takes listeners behind the scenes during seminal moments of the 1990s, from the LA riots to Pan Am 103 and Iran Contra. Thirty years later, Barr faced an unrelenting barrage of issues, such as Russiagate, the COVID outbreak, civil unrest, the impeachments, and the 2020 election fallout.

An important historical accounting
Revisado: 06-18-23
As my review title indicates, and as I believe in its accuracy and truthfulness, this work is an important historical accounting.
As such, I encourage anyone and everyone to listen &/or read it.
I found the information within its pages to be as interesting as it is informative and, in several places, entertaining. I found Mr. Barr’s candor refreshing.
As a sincere patriot of these United States, it is encouraging to me to know that Wm. Barr and people like him have given so much of themselves serving to preserve the foundational principles and precepts envisioned and set forth by our nations founders - and that there are still many that stand in the gap in these late days while so many detractors strive to tear it all down.

Historia
Hilarious, fascinating, and a roller coaster of dizzying, historical what-ifs, Napoleon's Hemorrhoids is a potpourri for serious historians and casual history buffs. In one of Phil Mason's many revelations, you'll learn that Communist jets were two minutes away from opening fire on American planes during the Cuban missile crisis, when they had to turn back as they were running out of fuel. You'll discover that before the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's painful hemorrhoids prevented him from mounting his horse to survey the battlefield.

A fun diversion
Revisado: 02-12-23
I’m glad to have chosen this title. It certainly is different from the 80 some odd books in my Audible library. I returned to listen in segments when I just wanted a diversion or something light and entertaining. I’m really not sure what I will ever do with the info gleaned but it was interesting and kind of fun. As I was thinking of what to write in this review, it dawned on me that it reminded me of the enjoyment I used to derive from the Paul Harvey feature “And now you know the rest of the story”.

Good and engaging story
Revisado: 02-11-23
Recommended by Bill O’Reilly. I enjoyed the story with its nested stories interwoven throughout. An interesting technique the author uses is to double back to tell the story from the perspective of other characters within a “scene”.

Historia
The left has corrupted the U.S. legal system. Wielding the law as a weapon, arrogant judges and lawless prosecutors are intimidating, silencing, and even imprisoning Americans who stand in the way of their radical agenda. Their "enemies list" even includes parents who dare to speak up for their children at school board meetings. In this shocking new book, Senator Ted Cruz takes listeners inside the justice system, showing how the wrong hands on the levers of power can strangle liberty, crush opposition, and wreck lives.

Important info for every American man, woman & child
Revisado: 12-26-22
An interesting and unbiased description of an important and very much newsworthy topic that will be ignored by MSM and therefore, exist below the radar of the bulk of the American public except as in snippets that do not reveal the true and nefarious - even existential threat level to our continued freedom loving lives in these United States.
I am thankful for the information contained in this book having been laid out so clearly and in the context of historical events for relatability.

Enjoyable. Certainly different. Great performance. Laughed out loud several times at the dry wit.
Can’t say I ever grasped the pollywog symbolism though.

An important read
Revisado: 11-07-22
In my opinion, this was very important information for me and alas, anyone who considerers themselves a truth seeker.
It occurs to me the epilog and final thoughts of the author to be the important foreword of the piece vice the last words captured as the afterthoughts and contemplations of one who studied so completely and earnestly the events, having the invaluable input of those involved and consideration the after action information provided to him.
My mind was changed by this very thoughtful presentation of the facts and insights of those actually involved.
I am grateful for the knowledge I now possess.

Historia
From the dark days of World War II through the Cold War, Sergey A. Kondrashev was a major player in Russia’s notorious KGB espionage apparatus. Rising through its ranks through hard work and keen understanding of how the spy and political games are played, he “handled” American and British defectors, recruited Western operatives as double agents, served as a ranking officer at the East Berlin and Vienna KGB bureaus, and tackled special assignments from the Kremlin.

Very interesting account
Revisado: 10-28-22
All the things we think we know basing that knowledge on what we have been taught and so believed to be true…
This account warrants further study although, I have no real reason to doubt its authenticity.
Certainly a worthwhile read and interesting, too, because of the insight the information brings light to regarding the tactics and methodologies being exhibited in the world’s politics - and closer to home, in the US.
Nothing new under the sun…

On a daring nighttime raid in September 2009, a team of Navy SEALs grabbed the notorious terrorist Ahmed Hashim Abed, the villainous "Butcher of Fallujah," the mastermind behind the 2004 murder and mutilation off our American contractors. In this no-holds-barred account, bestselling author Patrick Robinson reveals for the first time the entire story, from the night the SEALs stormed the al-Qaeda desert stronghold to the accusations and legaltwists and turns that followed to the cut-and-thrust drama in the court room where the fate of three American heroes hung in the balance.

Very suspenseful
Revisado: 10-03-22
Largely entertaining and
interlaced with fanciful yet very suspenseful scenarios.
The realism in the descriptive text of some tactical methods &/or equipment, make the story easier to listen to than other books of the genre wherein the inaccuracies of verbiage or the voice actor’s mispronunciations detract from the otherwise good story lines for me. In my experience, that is certainly not so in this series. My 2 cents.

Historia
For decades, Fred Burton was a key figure in international counterterrorism and domestic spy craft. As a member of the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service in the mid 1980s, he was on the front lines of America's first campaign against terror. Now, in this hard-hitting memoir, Burton emerges from the shadows to reveal who he is, what he has accomplished, and the threats that lurk unseen except by an experienced, world-wise few. Told in a no-holds-barred, gripping, nuanced style, this behind-the scenes account of one counterterrorism agent's life and career is a riveting listen.

Enjoyable style and very interesting
Revisado: 09-24-22
I have plowed through numbers of books regarding the GWOT but all have been written from a military/war fighter or a CIA perspective.
This book was different because it addressed the topic from a law enforcement/USDOS perspective. Also, the time span and recounting of the terror events, investigations and capture of the perpetrators (groups & individuals) that occurred in the Nixon - even Kennedy - trough Reagan is a topic of high interest to me. This book examined things in that period when knowledge of exactly how to operate in that theater with the increasing ops tempo was in its infancy, our more modern hardware had not been developed or was in process and the specific tradecraft was being learned OJT style in a life or death world political atmosphere.
I recommend the read or listen and would like to convey my profound appreciation to Mr. Burton and all the others that gave sacrificially of their personal and professional selves for our collective safety.
