Full of Heart

Don't hesitate to buy this book. It has humor, grit, passion but mainly it has heart. It is a beautiful love story.

I just couldn't suspend my disbelief with this story. The premise is interesting and it was set up for success but execution fell short. The narrator's performance is a credit to her though. There's realism in her reactions and voice acting. The male voices are a bit softer and higher pitched than I like but she still has a husky masculinity. What really threw me off was how quickly Rowen went from "I can't work with this vampire" to having sex the next minute. No buildup or dynamic shift in their relationship before they were in bed. She doesn't even remark much on his looks or charm. I think she only mentioned it the first meeting. He doesn't seem to care at all until he's suddenly jealous of Jack. Made no sense to me.

Good story

The story is really good and one that many paranormal romance fans will enjoy. However the narrator's interpretation of some of the characters doesn't mesh with the story descriptions. For instance, Jolene is supposed to be this wily, older leader of a lair but her voice sounded like my 90 year old grandma who enjoys knitting. Yes, Jolene IS a grandma but she is also a badass demon imp. The narrator only voiced the grandma aspect and she did this with a few characters.

This is such an absorbing entrance to a new story world! It starts a little slowly, but the frustrations of all the secrets in the beginning are resolved soon enough. The buildup of weaving past and present is so well done and is the perfect suspense. I recommend this for any lovers of fantasy stories mixed with magical romance.

So juvenile!

The narrators could only go so far to save this story, but unfortunately they fell short of a win. When I heard the main character spell out hell as "H-E-double hockey sticks", I had to check that I ordered the right audio book. I had thought I was reading contemporary adult romance, not a pre-teen book about a junior high crush. The author was clearly trying to sell the main character as a quirky but cute ingenue. Feel like I wasted a credit.

Dying to read more!

This is such an intense trilogy! I'm in love with Simone's retelling of the King Arthur story. She weaves dynamic and complicated relationships into a beautiful romantic (sometimes tragic) plot. I can see influences of T.H. White's version more than the Mallory legend. Either way she has put her own stamp on the ancient figures by transposing conflicts in kingdoms to modern-era war and terror. it makes so much sense to me. Embry's book is everything I love in the series. There is more struggle and the politics of presidency come crashing into the soft love between Greer, Ash and Embry. In short, Read these books!

Need a different Narrator

The narrator sounds like he would work best in nonfiction - not romance. I'm disappointed.
