Historia
.R. nurse Ella Majors has seen all the misery that she can handle. Burned-out and unsure of her next step, she accepts the temporary position as caregiver to Marion Henderson, a frightened five-year-old who suffers from juvenile diabetes. But Ella soon realizes there is more sorrow in the isolated home than the little girl’s illness can account for. Harris Henderson, a single father, seems better able to deal with the wild birds he rehabilitates in his birds-of-prey sanctuary than with his own daughter. Then something magical begins to happen....

Great Bird Info and Story
Revisado: 04-20-24
This book is really two interlocking parts— a story about raptors that is interwoven with a good story about a man and his daughter and a woman who changes their lives. Reading it you will learn much about raptors and people who rehabilitate them after an injury.

Great Story and Book
Revisado: 08-02-23
Several interesting stories intertwined in this book. The different parts fit together well and easily kept my interest. The narration of the different voices is excellent.

Historia
At first glance, the death of media mogul “Big Bill” Argosy appears to be suicide. But his widow, Laila, thinks otherwise. Because Big Bill made enemies - lots of them. And he’d rather fight to the death than take his own life. When the authorities refuse to investigate, Laila turns to the one person who can see connections in the universe where others can’t: Zip Ono, a young private investigator - and practicing Buddhist. Zip quickly learns that there’s no shortage of suspects who might very well want Argosy dead.

Zip Ono -- Good Story
Revisado: 12-29-20
Zip Ono is in interesting young prvate detective who has already solved one tough case, but let her policeman boyfriend take the credit. She is now on another puzzling case of the death of a not very nice, important man whose death was ruled a suicide by the police. His widow believes he was murdered and hires Zip to investigate. The case has many lose ends that Zip starts to tie together up to the surprise ending of the story.
When I started this book, I had learned a lot about Buddhism but not Zip’s SGI Buddhism. Learning about this area of Buddhism and hearing useful Buddhism concepts throughout the story was a very nice extra positive feature for me.
There was a feature of the book that I found unpleasant and distractive with the overload by foul language. I have heard it all and read it in other books, but in this story it was far over the edge and I almost stopped reading the book for that reason.
I would rate the language a one but all other parts of the book much higher.

I will listen again
Revisado: 03-06-18
I have many great Audible books but this one struck a special cord with me. Perhaps, I am a little like Otto but I am also trying to understand Zen and Buddhism. Rinpoche teachings and his conversations with Otto actually put some of what I was trying to understand in way that made it more clear. I would love to drive Rinpoche across the country!
On top of that there is a very good background story about Otto's family and Rinpoche's history that was very entertaining. I look forward to "Dinner with the Buddha" but I am sure it can not to "Breakfast".

The Analysis of Buddhism is True
Revisado: 11-16-17
This book is about some of the most complex aspects of Buddhism by a writer who has a career, did not spend years in an Eastern jungle and has a family etc. I think this places Wright in a good position to relate to most of us in the West who are very interested in Buddhism and want to learn more. His stories from retreats etc relate experiences that help clarify many complex aspects of Buddhism but seem to be the kind of thing that could happen to many of us, even though we are not spending hours per day on Buddhist practice. The book helped me to better understand many features of Buddhism that have been a mystery and I expect it to continue to help as I listen to it the second time. I am now doing Wright's web course on Buddhist psychology and it is as good as the book. I hope that he continues to do retreats and write about them and other aspects of Buddhism for the rest of us.
