Historia
Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t. They broke up five months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.

You’ll still like everyone in the end
Revisado: 05-30-23
I feel like most love stories have moments that make you wonder if you still like the main characters in the end. Of course we need character growth and plot, but these two are so lovable, you truly root for them all the way through. I told my husband it felt like a naughtier modern day Anne (of Green Gables) story. The bond between Harriet, Chloe, and Sabrina in their beloved seaside cottage is just so wonderful.

Spooky
Revisado: 04-10-22
I read this with my book club. It’s pretty fun and creepy, but I truly hate the way Brittany Pressley pops the T’s and K’s at the end of words. 😣

Revisado: 04-18-21
It’s a little bit of everything and it’s all done well. I loved it, if not from the beginning, steadily more through the ending which made me want to read everything Backman’s written. This is my first Fredrik Backman novel.

Worst Narration I’ve heard
Revisado: 08-17-20
The story is very Stuart Gibbs. If you like Spy School and Moon Base Alpha, I think you’ll like this one. But the narration is so bad! Actually, all the dialogue is fine, but between impressions, Weller speaks so softly that it’s impossible to set an appropriate volume.

Historia
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

Revisado: 05-21-19
I loved everything about this book! I loved Bernadette, her tirades, her passion, her humor. I loved all the unexpected character development and twists along the way. It was a really fun "read" and I had to stay up to finish it!

Revisado: 11-19-17
I've read a bunch of Penny Reid's stuff but this one is definitely my favorite. Both leads are loveable and the therapist sessions provide good mantras for everyone! "I decide what I deserve. They decide what they deserve!"

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

An unbelievably beautiful and sad story. You know what you're getting into reading a story about Nazi Germany, but Zusak helps you through with humor and tender moments of humanity at its best.
