Historia
When Margaret and her husband Hal bought the large Victorian house on Hawthorn Street—for sale at a surprisingly reasonable price—they couldn’t believe they finally had a home of their own. Then they discovered the hauntings. Every September, the walls drip blood. The ghosts of former inhabitants appear, and all of them are terrified of something that lurks in the basement. Most people would flee. Margaret is not most people. Margaret is staying.

Absolutely devoured this book!! The narration was perfect in that it was spot on to the tone of the main character and her prose was perfection. Loved the story..brilliant fun and creepy…more female lead horror stories !

Historia
After a tragedy too painful to bear, former novelist Lily Albrecht has resigned herself to a dull, sexless life as a rare-book dealer—until she gets a lead on a book that just might turn everything around. The Book of the Most Precious Substance is a 17th-century manual on sex magic, rumored to be the most powerful occult book ever written—if it really exists at all. And some of the wealthiest people in the world are willing to pay Lily a fortune to find it, if she can.

Predictable
Revisado: 03-25-24
The story was alright, the narrator did a great job but the voice did not, for me match the voice of the character.

Colleen hurts me again
Revisado: 01-03-24
Lackluster predictable story. Man with seedy past falls for woman with sexy seedier past. bleh. I don't know if it's me or what but I could not handle the male narrator. I'm sure some of it was purposeful and also Hoovers writing has become lazy and predictable but I struggled getting through this book. Verity and It Ends With Us are my absolute favorite books and I wish she would stay around that level of story. Layla, this book and Without Merit were just boring and cringe. This is a book to be missed.
