Historia
Alex Cross is back - and so is a raging and suicidal Gary Soneji. Out of prison and dying from the AIDS virus he contracted there, he will get revenge on Cross before he dies. In addition, we are introduced to a new pair of rivals whose paths cross that of Alex and Soneji. Thomas Augustine Pierce has been chasing his demon, Mr. Smith, since the savage murder of his fiancée. Mr. Smith is a unique monster, with actions toward his victims so insane - so unimaginable - that he is thought of as "not of the Earth".

Why can’t narrators pronounce names consistently?
Revisado: 04-25-22
I’m so annoyed with the narrators for this series. They each pronounce Gary Sonegie’s name differently. This book has the added annoyance of a narrator who clearly has never spent any time with children. The kids voices are an insulting caricature of how adults imagine children sound when they talk. The tone, inflection, and pace is all wrong. It just drove me crazy.

Historia
Former LAPD lieutenant Peter Decker is relishing the quiet and slow pace of his new job with the Greenbury police department. The work is low stress and engaging, and it's been almost a year since the last murder in this sleepy upstate New York town. Then the body of a nude man is found deep within the woods, shattering Decker's peace. The death appears to be a suicide - a single shot to the head, the gun by his side. But until the coroner's ruling, the scene must be treated as a suspicious crime.

Ugh
Revisado: 08-24-20
The story is great and that was the only reason I listen to the end because this narrator is painful. He miss pronounces Hebrew words and phrases and doesn’t differentiate between the voices of the different characters. It’s so confusing and hard to follow. I’m really disappointed.

Historia
As a detective lieutenant with the LAPD, Peter Decker witnessed enough ugliness and chaos for a lifetime. Now, he and his devoted wife, Rina Lazarus, are ready to enjoy the quiet beauty of upstate New York, where they can be closer to their four adult children and their foster son. But working for the Greenbury Police department isn't as fulfilling as Decker hoped. While Rina has adapted beautifully to their new surroundings, Decker is underwhelmed and frustrated by his new partner, Tyler McAdams, a former Harvard student and young buck with a bad 'tude.

Excellent story but horrible narration
Revisado: 08-23-20
I struggle to just get through this novel, even though I love all of her books and have been reading them for years. The narrators voice is so rating, and he doesn’t do differentiation between characters very well so you have no idea who is actually speaking.

Impossible to listen to
Revisado: 04-13-19
I have no idea how good this book actually is, because the narration was so hard to listen to. She spoke very quickly and was obviously reading directly from the page. This is a reason to get a professional narrator rather than reading your own book. It’s a shame really.

Easy story to follow

Some books don’t turn out so well in audio format but this particular book and the series as a whole is great to listen to. There are occasional audio hiccups but for the most part the reading performance is excellent.
