Mystic Caravan Circus is planning for a transition. They want a permanent location so their members can settle down, and the hunt is on. Winter break is upon Mystic Caravan, which is supposed to mean a full month of rest and relaxation. Upon arriving at their destination, however, Poet and company find that murder isn’t far behind. Their off-season park is full of paranormals - something that normally makes Poet comfortable - but the death of a local girl points to one of their own being the culprit. Even though she’s supposed to be taking it easy, Poet can’t stop herself from digging…and it leads her on a wild ride.

Mystic Caravan Circus is heading to Charleston and - per usual - trouble is not far behind. For Poet Parker, who is grappling with saying good-bye to her assistant, she’s looking forward to quiet nights on the beach and quality time with her boyfriend. All that changes when the sea starts giving up its dead...and they appear to be hungry. Under normal circumstances, zombies wouldn’t be a big deal. They’re slow, lumbering, and easy to dispatch. This infestation is different...and they appear to be controlled by a strange creature long since thought extinct.

Everybody’s favorite over-the-top circus performers travel to Hemlock Cove, where they meet a group of witches they didn’t see coming, before heading to the Detroit area and visiting Poet Parker’s old stomping grounds. There, they come across a family of snarky reapers who challenge their world view...and a group of at-risk street kids who are in danger of being swallowed whole by a dark enemy. Finally, they stop at Mammoth Caves, where vampires (and something a little more sinister) seem to be taking over a small town and leaving nothing but devastation in their wake.

The adventure continues at Mystic Caravan Circus. The antics are fast, the quips furious, and the danger ever present. Survival isn’t a given. It’s something that has to be worked toward every moment of every day. Thankfully the fun never subsides even when the darkness threatens to overwhelm them.
