Historia
Stuck in a dungeon meticulously designed to ruin their lives in the most entertaining way possible, Jack and his best friend, Hannah, are outnumbered and outmatched by monsters with questionable ethics. Jack knows he should be fighting for his life, but where’s the fun in that? Instead, he’s decided to charm the dungeon’s nastiest creatures, turning enemies into reluctant allies, and allies… let’s just say things get complicated.

Great story twists
Revisado: 03-31-25
I didn’t love Jack in the first book, but as it wrapped up and the second book got going, the guy’s really grown on me. The story is creative, fun and different than what I normally read, and I’m really hoping the third book comes out soon! Well done!

Historia
A mesmerizing, behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video-game industry. In 1990, Nintendo had a virtual monopoly on the video-game industry. Sega, on the other hand, was just a faltering arcade company with big aspirations and even bigger personalities. But all that would change with the arrival of Tom Kalinske, a former Mattel executive who knew nothing about video games and everything about fighting uphill battles.

What a great read!
Revisado: 01-18-18
I loved going behind the scenes with not only Sega but also Nintendo and Sony. While they viewed each other as the villain sometimes the book never does. It shows the good, the bad and the amazing in each company. If you grew up in the 70s and 80s like me these games are part of your history. Learning the rest of the story was a blast!

Great book for dealing with difficult situations
Revisado: 04-10-12
What made the experience of listening to Joy That Lasts the most enjoyable?
Gary Smalley has a great message in this book that (as he readily admits) was revealed to his wife, Norma, and just articulated and refined by him. With complete Scriptural reference, Gary shares how the trials and suffering we so often complain about can be the very tools that equip us to get through future situations and to build relationships with others as we help them deal with things we've gone through ourselves. The
What other book might you compare Joy That Lasts to and why?
From Anger to Intimacy, which also helps find good from bad situations.

Like Harry Potter for grown ups
Revisado: 05-18-08
Not to jab the grown ups who also love Harry Potter - this just ups the bar both on the character development and story to a more mature (and obscure) level. Gaiman does an amazing job of expanding the trivial details of life into vivid realities. I will be watching this author with great interest from this point on.
