Definitely A Real Story
Revisado: 03-07-25
This story sheds light on abuse, complexity of relationships, and decisions. I can see how a story like this could be played out in real life. I was hoping there would be more of a steady delivery. The story seemed choppy at points, but the flow was there after a few chapters.
I'd recommend this for lovers of thrillers and romance.

Historia
It’s been five years since the accident that killed the love of her life and she’s almost a new person now—an artist with her own studio and sharing a brownstone apartment with her ride-or-die best friend, Joy, who insists it’s time for Feyi to ease back into the dating scene. Feyi isn’t ready for anything serious, but a steamy encounter at a rooftop party cascades into a whirlwind summer she could have never imagined: a luxury trip to a tropical island, decadent meals in the glamorous home of a celebrity chef, and a major curator who wants to launch her art career.

I'm not a huge fan of romance novels, but this one was quite interesting. I felt like I was a fly on the wall, listening to my friends from college.

Now, in his debut essay collection, Black gives voice to the experiences of those who often find themselves on the margins. Tackling topics ranging from police brutality to the AIDS crisis to the role of HBCUs to queer representation in the black church, Black on Black celebrates the resilience, fortitude, and survival of black people in a land where their body is always on display.

Powerful Messaging
Revisado: 05-16-21
Another powerful message in the books. Once again, Ms. Eboni and Mr. Dustin, you 2 have done God's work in not only delivering messages aligned with supporting humanity but ACTIONABLE items for the people. The Wandering Office Act should be included in the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. I think people are so caught up in the qualified immunity but ignoring essential pieces that Jason Johnson writes about and this NY bill. I learn A LOT from this podcast. Thank you for bringing the fire 🔥.

Historia
Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race”, a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of Black women and men - bodies exploited through slavery and segregation and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a Black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son.

When I tell you I am so thankful and grateful for this Podcast...you don't know how much it means to me. I am a humungous Anita Baker fan and I had no idea she was fighting with these slave owning label execs. 🤬 My wife actually gifted me an Anita Baker CD a few years ago bc some of her music was hard to find on Spotify. Idk the last time I've laid eyes on a CD player! BUT, for Auntie Anita, that CD WILL be played in my car TODAY!
