Historia
Set against the backdrop of China’s Cultural Revolution, a secret military project sends signals into space to establish contact with aliens. An alien civilization on the brink of destruction captures the signal and plans to invade Earth. Meanwhile, on Earth, different camps start forming, planning to either welcome the superior beings and help them take over a world seen as corrupt, or to fight against the invasion.

creative
Revisado: 04-04-24
it's like the author ran out of steam at the end. The imaginative and illustrative writing and the fresh, creative and transportive work is PhD thesis worthy. The characters are very believable and well thought out. Gripping and graphic.
Anti Spoiler Alert: What happens (or could have happened) after the last chapter was, the Tri-Solaren Home World was engulfed in the corona of one of their sun's and the proton / Sophon control center evaporated. The Sophons left to perplex Earth science, kept running the same subroutine, glitched during a solar storm giving the earth's defenses a chance to recognize its deception and figure out how to program it to its 11th dimension state where it was no longer viable. Half of the tri-solaren fleet was indeed destroyed by interstellar dust clouds and mishaps in transit. The remainder, closing in on earth 450 years in the future, was given the opportunity to colonize a portion of the now, partially terraformed Mars and live in peace or be blasted by a dimensional weapon pulling them into a gravity well eliminating their species forever. To them Mars was a paradise ✨️. Ever thankful they learned to work in harmony with the people from our solar system and lived happily ever after.

Fantastic read, great listen and most interesting.
Revisado: 03-07-24
Best read/listen in years. I have lived and worked around Diesel engines all my life and had no idea how interesting the history behind this invention and the man who created it is. It's fascinating to learn about what is undeniably the prime mover in society today from it's humble beginnings as a way for craftspeople to power their shops to the economic powerhouse behind shipping, trucking, trains, energy and industrial motion today. I don't usually write reviews (that's probably apparent) but this one was too good not to give a shout out.

Pricing moves almost as fast as these cars. With investment buyers coming in with bushes of cash, they have all but destroyed the fun in ownership and all but eliminated affordability in all but the loathed models (we all know which cars without saying). This was an OK listen and good on the author for his timing and work ethic to be able to purchase cars and enjoy the hobby. I would say it's not very applicable in today's market. especially here in the States.

Too much, too fast, too many...
Revisado: 09-21-22
They throw the kitchen sink at you with this one. The reading is top notch but your head will hurt trying to follow all the plots, story lines and sub plots. Too many characters and in the end It feels like a roller-coaster that was so fast and so rough I really couldn't enjoy the ride.

Blame it on global warming
Revisado: 07-13-19
Good: performance, harking back to 50"s and 60's sci-fi
Thoughtful development of plot and characters.
Not so great: liberal progressive worldview with trust in government over people and the corporations made up of those people, exception for the hero who is lauded and accomodated by the after Earth government, which was, per liberal narrative, completely destroyed by greedy corporations. For such a creative and intelligent author to be that intellectually lazy was a put off.
