What a pleasure to get to know these characters and to follow a suspenseful story that is pure joy and delight, all the way along. Nothing remotely violent. And Meryl Streep! What’s not to love?

Historia
Back in 1985, Frank Mackey was a nineteen-year-old kid with a dream of escaping his family's cramped flat on Faithful Place and running away to London with his girl, Rosie Daly. But on the night they were supposed to leave, Rosie didn't show. Frank took it for granted that she'd dumped him-probably because of his alcoholic father, nutcase mother, and generally dysfunctional family. He never went home again. Neither did Rosie. Then, twenty-two years later, Rosie's suitcase shows up.

Incredible voice acting! Fantastic characters!
Revisado: 12-19-23
Never mind the plot- it’s pretty good, though I pegged the killer early on. This one is for the pure joy of voice actor Tom Gerard’s Irish brogue, which he comes by honestly. And the absolutely wonderful way he has of giving voice to each member of the main character’s very f-ed up family, from the little girl to the cranky old alcoholic father, each of which you come to love for no other reason than his heartfelt rendering of them. Just amazing work!

Very useful, if a bit non-inclusive. Not good for audio- just read it
Revisado: 12-10-23
Mind-blowing concepts- if somewhat outdated in terms of non-inclusiveness. Zero mention of homosexual couples and heavy emphasis on the teachings of Jesus. But the Southern accent makes it sound even more small-minded. Just buy the printed book. You’ll want to return to the helpful lists of ideas again and again, which the narrator just blows through in seconds.

Best Audible Pick!!
Revisado: 11-19-23
Yes! Absolutely fantastic plot, lovable (and so deliciously hate-able!) characters, hilarious sense of humor, a poignant anti-bullying theme and the important message that domestic violence can happen to anyone, regardless of class. Liane Moriarty does it again…. And what a fabulous performance by voice actor Caroline! I just love all the little boy and tough guy voices!
You will cry, you will laugh, and you will not be able to stop listening until the BIG REVEAL! What a surprise it was! You’ll never guess who dunnit and whom it gets done to!!
I’ve read a lot of so-so and some terrible reads in Audible, and if I could give this one 10 out of 5 stars, I would. Enjoy! Then tell all your friends.

Historia
Through roles in cherished films such as Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, Aladdin and Hook, he became the genial face of family comedy. His childlike enthusiasm was infectious, sweeping viewers away. Allied to his lightning-quick improvisation and ability to riff lewdly off any cue thrown at him, Robin was that rare thing - a true comic genius who appealed to adults and children equally. He could also play it straight, and empathetic depth came to him naturally.

Crickey! Just a bunch of quotes, wrong prononc'n
Revisado: 11-04-23
A book is more than just the research you found online. It is your own spin on a story, or a story, at the very least! This is just a compilation of quotes. And the British accent makes no sense for the life of this American actor. The pronunciations of important names and places, such as the county where Williams was living when he died, (MaRIN, not MAArin), are all wrong! Yikes.

French speakers should read; not LISTEN!
Revisado: 06-20-23
If you have ever studied even a LITTLE French, this will grate on your ears. Aside from the writer’s overuse of the words “spied” (for caught sight of) and “aqua” (everything she describes seems to be this color) the story was palpable enough, if you’re into devils and magic, but my enjoyment of it was completely destroyed by the voice-over artist’s utter lack of familiarity with French pronunciation. Even the French word for bread, pain, which most Americans know from the chain Au Bon Pain, came out sounding like “paw.” Seriously?! This novel is partially set in Paris and half of it is narrated by a French character, even though she is writing in French. The voice-over artist is very good; why not just let her do the French character in her American accent? Those sections need to be redone without the atrocious French accent— or else find a second narrator who can accurately produce a French accent or at least pronounce the French place names accurately! This is painful!

Letting Go describes a simple and effective means by which to let go of the obstacles to enlightenment and become free of negativity. During the many decades of the author's clinical psychiatric practice, the primary aim was to seek the most effective ways to relieve human suffering in all of its many forms. The inner mechanism of surrender was found to be of great practical benefit and is described in this book.

Life transforming
Revisado: 07-12-22
I have been an avid Audible listener for years, but this is hands down the most transformative book I’ve ever listened to. You will actually feel your spiritual level rising as you read; I kid you not. This is so much more than just a book. Listen to the very end to hear the mind-blowing life story of the author. Then recommend it to everyone you know. It will transform your entire life in the best possible way.

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Historia
When they met at an airport, it was love at first sight. But in time, everything collapsed. As an unnamed but unforgettable woman muses on her life—from meet cute to marriage and parenthood—her recollections inexorably build to a devastating truth. In this shattering performance, Carey Mulligan, star of the critically lauded drama An Education, captivates audiences with playwright Dennis Kelly’s harrowing ruminations on family, ambition, gender, and violence.

Beautifully Performed - Parents/ Sensitive Stomachs Beware!
Revisado: 05-01-19
Carey Mulligan gives a masterful performance. The mother’s voice is so true to life! I was totally drawn in as a mother of young children, and found myself grinning with recognition as I listened. But parents of children any age should be strongly cautioned! This piece contains graphic violence against children. If what the author yearns for is a better world in which the violent instincts of men are curbed, then why include such gratuitously detailed descriptions of violent acts? I would love to hear more about the documentary our heroine doesn’t end up producing about preventing men from rising to power. Or more details about the burly policeman who exhibits gentleness and compassion. Instead, the emphasis was on a horrific crime. I would argue that any kind of media that contains this degree of violence can only contribute to the problem of a violent society.
