Good reflection on human connection, but too Christian-oriented

The theme and premise of this book is important, and social constructs have certainly been drastically affected by technology. Restoring a sense of connection, meaning, and compassionate relationships is pertinent for all of us, but the author tends to only shape this in the orientation of Christianity. There are thousands of religions recognized globally and a more inclusive approach to this social issue would be wider received. This book should be classified under Religious or Faith-based genres, not Social Science.

It’s all bondage or dominance. Not about bears at all.

All the stories are about leather bondage, sadistic role play, or dominance. That’s fine. Everyone is entitled to their kink. But don’t call it “Bears.” We’re a lot more cuddly and sensual. But not every bear is S&M. Not every bear is leather. Not every bear is submission. How about spending some more time learning about people before grouping them under one title?

An absolutely wonderful history, reflection, and live (at time of publication) accounts of one of the most important civil rights justices.

The first half includes a decent representation of neuroanatomy and neuroscience with a related discussion of behavioral neuroscience. However, the main take away from the authors’ perspective appears to be rooted in Christian religion. What about the other 4,000 religions of the world, and agnostic or atheist beliefs? I appreciate the book description included spirituality, but neuroscience, mindfulness, and spirituality exist in the absence of religion. Overall, good start, biased completion.
