Decent Story, Bad Narrator
Revisado: 03-02-23
i quite liked the premise of the book, but the Narrator is.. he has a very odd cadence and his voice is somewhat irritating. some of his voices are ok but most of it is pretty bad. also, thr main character freezes up in literally every scene. its understsndible thebfirst couple times but she KEEPS DOING IT and it is highly irratating. They do it in krder to show the fighting from her perspective but it is just frustrating to listen to. overall its a decent book, probably better to read it than listen to.

Historia
Nine hundred light-years from home, Major Andrew Grayson and the crew of NACS Washington are marooned in a sunless system with limited water, reactor fuel, and food. The last hope for survival is to go where nothing human has gone before. After embarking on a scouting mission to the only moon with surface signs of life, Andrew and his Special Tactics Team make two startling discoveries. One is a dream: a form of protein and plant life that could save the starving humans in the rogue system. The second is a nightmare: this harvested rock is infested with Lankies.

A bit disapointing to be honest, but not BAD
Revisado: 09-18-22
I have been reading frontlines for years, this story started out so freaking awesome, it had me hooked from the get go. And I would say the vast majority of the series has been nothing short of fantastic... however. The last 3 books are.. well. the spark is gone, and it feels even more pungent in this final book. It never answers any questions, there are a few battle sequences that are very meh. There is almost no tension. Then it just kind of ends. I mean there was so much potential here but I think the author just wanted to get this series over with and move on. I hope he puts more effort into his Pallidium Wars series as I am very much enjoying that so far. all in all its not terrible, i would say that if you have gotten this far you might as well finish the ride. I wasnt a huge fan of the narrator though.

genuinely cannot understand all the 1 and 2 star rating for this. yeah, its pretty much DOOM but why is that a bad thing? The characters are all vert good, the monsters are unique. the action is good, the writing is exclent. its tense, and you never know whos gonna die next. all on all its excellent. more of an action, space horrer type thing, but i thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. and i mean, it was free.

Historia
Without warning, Russia starts an operation to seize control of a vital arctic waterway off the Alaska coast. For hot-wired naval aviator Karen 'Bunny' O'Hare, it's about to be a bad day at the office. Not everyone takes impending nuclear Armageddon as calmly as O'Hare. From an airfield in Russia, Major-General Bondarev is leading a war he doesn't understand against machines instead of men. Under the US embassy in Moscow, Ambassador Devlin McCarthy discovers she can follow her conscience or the orders of her Secretary of State, but not both.

Good Overall, but not as good as the last 2
Revisado: 05-17-22
This is a solid book, but it has a few glaring issues. First, the narration is.. well its not horrible but it also is not good. Then there is the simple stupidity of the American reaponse to everything. Your telling me that with enemy troops on american soil, we havent even sent in some Special Forces to observe? That would have happened immediatly. Canada isnt going to deny US operations in their land in an active conflict with Russia, so it would be easy to get sone guys in from accross tbe border to A) rescue those civillians, and B) observe the enemy operations. the fact that this never happens and they keep relying on some kid is just dumb.
Next there is the secret base thing, it was a cool idea but it gets ruined by unbelievability. i get it, you want these 2 ladies to be superheroes. cool, but it takes me out of the story when they are able to do things on their own that would take at least a handful of people. Why not have some volunteers stay behind with them? At least then it becomes more believable, then you can also have an epic gun fight with some Spetznaz at the end that makes a little more sense. Why is a Russian General going into a hostile enemy base with Spetznaz troops to begin with? thats stupid. Why is a US supercarrier completely disabled by a cyber attack? stupid. why is the Russian spetznaz guy on the ground determined to assault an enemy position before he has reinforcements that he could totally call in? stupid.
Also, there is some discontinuity with this book and the last 2, which were far more realistic and overall just better.
actually, i initially had this at 4 stars but im taking it down to 3 the more i think about it. im still going to read the next one, but i have to get it on Kindle instead of audible because only 2 of the 5 book series are actually narrated. wtf is up with that?
i would say overall its an ok story, but its filled with holes that your going to have to work pretty hard to overlook.

Historia
Backed by Russian airpower, Syria has begun an operation to push Turkish troops out of Northern Syria. Despite US efforts not to get dragged into the conflict, the US 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines "Lava Dogs", find their hilltop combat outpost encircled and their Kurdish allies under siege. Further west, a Syrian armored advance across the border into Turkey pivots, threatening US troops at the Turkish and NATO airbase of Incirlik. But will Syria be satisfied with reclaiming its northern border region, or is the operation just the first move in a bolder plan to regain lost territories?

Revisado: 04-29-22
That WW3 itch can be hard to scratch, Red Storm it is not, however, the characters are all good, the story and setting are solid and realistic, the tech is futuristic but not too crazy, and the battles are well written. you get just enough politics and white house situation room to know whats going on, but not too much as to be boring. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the rest of the series.
one question, why are only 2 out of the 5 books in this series on audible, and they arent even in order?? its book 1 and book 3, 2, 4 and 5 arent on audible, this should be fixed immediatly.

Great, but somethings missing
Revisado: 02-13-22
I very much enjoyed listening to this story, the buildup was very believable and I liked the characters and the use of technology. it was all very well done. The only place in which these books struggle are the battles themselves. The Naval battles are fine in my opinion, they are over in a few pages but i dont really have a problem with it. But the land battles are, to be honest, poorly done and unsatisfying, with the ending left up to a technological miracle instead of letting the long awaited american forces actually fight it out with the Chinese. It was very unsatisfying. Also, the author never really depicts the Tiawanise military other than to say, things like, "they wont last much longer." Overall, despite its shortcomings, it is still a very good story and i highly recomend it.

Decent plot but poor execution
Revisado: 01-26-22
I honestly just couldn't get into it. I gave it good 3 hours but many of the plot points are just too farfetched for me. I also did not like the narrator. Save your money, there are better books out there. Go check out Command and Control, or Tipping Point. Both are far superior to this.
