A good story, but I found I didn't enjoy Mickey's adventures as well as Myron's. Also, the narration in this one made Myron sound a bit like a doddering fool. All in all, it was not a waste of time, but not Coben's best work.

Will Patton does a great job with all these voices. It's a little incredible that Sheriff Holland can do the things he does at his advanced age, but Patton brings this flawed man to life and makes you care about him and his deputy, love-struck Pam Tibbs. He also gives an interesting voice to arch-enemy Preacher Jack Collins, and convincingly puts the 3 on the same team, albeit briefly. The pace is slow at times, but the story engaging, and the characters worth knowing.

My first Brian Haig book and I loved it (though I admit Scott Brick as the narrator played a big role in my decision to get it). I love Brick, and while his readings of Nelson DeMille's John Corey books are my favorites, he doesn't disappoint and hits the accents fairly consistently. Great story, kept me driving around to see what happens next. You won't be disappointed.

My first crack at D.W. Buffa and I thought it was OK. I got used to the narration (my favorite is Scott Brick), and I liked the main characters. The legal stuff was fun (I like courtroom dramas) and the underlying storyline was good. Suspension of disbelief is required when it comes to some of the relationships, but this book is worth the listen--not a waste of time.

Never heard of this author, but WOW what a great story. Narration was great, story was great, didn't want to stop the car (and therefore stop listening). My all-time favorite book is Stephen King's "The Stand," and this story swept me up much like that one did. I absolutely, positively recommend this to everyone. Great, great book (found myself wanting a sequel!).

I would actually rate it 3.5 stars

A strangely compelling story. The narration is done by the guy who Denzel Washington replaced as head coach in Remember The Titans (Will Patyon) and he does a very good job. At times the book wanders and plods, but overall I developed an attachment to many of the characters, and found myself getting irritated when they didn't do what I wanted them to do (getting the listener actively involved is good, right?). Definitely worth the listen.

Just not good

Didn't dig the narration, story didn't grab me, and from the publisher's description of this book, it's exactly the kind of book I should like. One of the very few I simply turned off and stopped listening to. It's a shame because this was the audition for the whole series, and now that is clearly not going to happen!

I had never heard of this guy and actually bought this based on an audible recommendation. I'm glad I did. I've listened to ALL the books in the John Seepak series and I love the guy...and his code. Narration is fine, setting on the eastern seaboard is different. There are characters you love, and characters you love to hate. Very good book. My bet is once you listen to this first one, you'll go after them all.
