Are you tired of feeling f*cked up? If you are, Gary John Bishop has the answer. In this straightforward handbook, he gives you the tools and advice you need to demolish the slag weighing you down and become the truly unf--ked version of yourself. "Wake up to the miracle you are," he directs. "Here's what you've forgotten: You're a f--king miracle of being." It isn't other people that are standing in your way; it isn't even your circumstances that are blocking your ability to thrive. It's yourself and the negative self-talk you keep telling yourself.

This is only a book for people who need Tough-love!
Revisado: 07-09-24
I would not advise people who have had traumatic experiences or have accomplished quite a bit in their life to listen to this book.
He is very crass and dogmatic, and I don’t think that he has led the kind of accomplished life that justifies being his being on such a high horse.
The book would be good for a limited segment of the population who are lazy or who have never given a hard effort towards accomplished goals.
There are some people who need such advice, but I don’t think that kind of advice should be given unless you know someone personally.

The madness of the Soviet union
Revisado: 06-01-24
The work was a monumental achievement of scholarship and diligence. For an American author, or any author, to have the patient to go through the archive to compile a factual chronology is amazing, listening to such a book, however, does require patience, especially because of the unfamiliar Russian names and regions. If you are a student of western history, this is an important work by a great historian, read by a masterful narrator.

Helpful guide for patients by a patient
Revisado: 10-22-23
The book was a concise story of one person’s experience, and I appreciate the author’s sharing his story. This is a short guideline of the process from the patient’s perspective. Don’t expect a technical or medical analysis. Such information is available from scientific literature available on the Internet. This is an observation, not a criticism.

I urge anyone who loves music to listen to this book!
Revisado: 02-28-21
Professor Greenberg combined his knowledge, emotions and perspective to denote and explain sufficient for one to listen on his or her own, some of the great works of music. He performs it as well as anyone could because he knows his own text and he has a wonderful voice which is compelling for the text he wrote.
I also appreciated his explanation of why Bartok was not “included“ and his opinions about the future of new music.

Dereliction of Duty is a stunning analysis of how and why the United States became involved in an all-out and disastrous war in Southeast Asia. Fully and convincingly researched, based on transcripts and personal accounts of crucial meetings, confrontations, and decisions, it is the only book that fully re-creates what happened and why. McMaster pinpoints the policies and decisions that got the United States into the morass and reveals who made these decisions and the motives behind them, disproving the published theories of other historians and excuses of the participants.

Everything that a non-fiction historical work should be!
Revisado: 02-07-21
Sheds this some time to myth that a military man is not a scholar. This was a compelling story about an abject failure of civilian and military leader ship told in a straightforward style. General McMaster also did a wonderful job reading his work. This book should be required reading as it represents the greatest failure of a president in modern history. There are so many lessons for future leader ship in this book. Thank you General McMaster.

Mediocre Bio

While the narrator was very good, this is another example of this author‘s inability to distance himself from the protagonist of his book, resulting in a report of dubious credibility. Too much “National Inquirer” not enough “New York Times.“

The extraordinary career of George Catlett Marshall - America’s most distinguished soldier - statesman since George Washington - whose selfless leadership and moral character influenced the course of two world wars and helped define the American century. Set against the backdrop of five major conflicts - two world wars, Palestine, Korea, and the Cold War - Marshall's education in military, diplomatic, and political power, replete with their nuances and ambiguities, runs parallel with America's emergence as a global superpower.

Revisado: 10-19-19
There is no great drama or excitement here, but there’s seldom is when you have an excellent book about an excellent human being such as General Marshall. The history of true heroes is very seldom spellbinding because that’s not the way that excellent people typically are.
The author prepared a fair and well-written history of a great man, and the narrator did an excellent job presenting the material. This book should be required reading for anyone who wants to improve how they manage people and for military training and training of executives in all fields.

1984 isn't just a novel; it's a key to understanding the modern world. George Orwell's final work is a treasure chest of ideas and memes - Big Brother, the Thought Police, Doublethink, Newspeak, 2+2=5 - that gain potency with every year. Particularly in 2016, when the election of Donald Trump made it a best seller ("Ministry of Alternative Facts", anyone?).

The best possible book on this topic
Revisado: 07-23-19
George Orwell has always been my favorite author in the English language, so this timely exposition of his biography connected to the writing of 1984 was wonderful. It was appropriate it was narrated by a British-speaking person. The book was interesting on three levels: general biography of Orwell. The circumstances surrounding his writing of the book. Observations over time about the book and it’s impact on modern political thought.

Insight into brilliance and accomplishment
Revisado: 06-28-19
Mr. Caro’s Life work, the book on Robert Moses and the biographies of Lyndon Johnson, are legendary. Those of us who admire him have always wanted to know the backstory-how such a brilliant man engaged in a lifetime of hard work in order to bring the books to print.
This book does not completely serve that purpose; it couldn’t, because only another person using the process that Caro used for his books could tell the story of Caro himself. But, this brilliantly written and narrated peace is a wonderful benefit to all of us who admire Mr. Caro.
Also, I’m glad that Robert narrated the piece himself; that New York accent underscores who the man is and elucidates his writing style as well.

Sound Pictures traces the story of the Beatles' breathtaking artistic trajectory after reaching the creative heights of Rubber Soul. As the bandmates engage in brash experimentation both inside and outside the studio, Martin toils along with manager Brian Epstein to consolidate the Beatles' fame in the face of growing sociocultural pressures, including the crisis associated with the "Beatles are more popular than Jesus" scandal. Meanwhile, he also struggles to make his way as an independent producer in the highly competitive world of mid-1960s rock 'n' roll.

Wonderfully told the story of one of the most important cultural figures of our time
Revisado: 06-21-19
The Beatles were the most important cultural influence during the last 60 years, and without George Martin, they would not have been what they ended up being. George Martin, with his quiet confidence, with and intelligence did much more than simply record the group well; he absolutely contributed to the compositions and added inspiration to the process. The story was wonderfully written, and the narrator was first class, often reading the quotations in the voice of the person quoted.
