Historia
The lives of four very different women have been shaped - and battered - by one charming man…Ireland's debonair politician Paddy de Courcy - the "John F. Kennedy Jr. of Dublin" - has captured tabloid headlines and the imagination of his country with his charm and charisma. But the crushed hearts he's left behind him reveal more about his character than his winning, vote getting smile. Lola, Grace, Marnie, and Alicia have all suffered from his selfishness and cruelty.

Hard to follow at first, but got better and better
Revisado: 04-09-25
I usually do other things when I listen to audiobooks, so it might be my fault for not paying full attention, but it took me way too long before I realized how many characters there actually were, and sometimes I didn't know it had switched over to another woman. However, when I got into the flow of the book and recognized the different women I really loved it, and I couldn't stop listening. I think I will listen to it again some time, just to be able to enjoy the full book, including the beginning.

Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Beautiful!
Revisado: 12-07-24
I thought this book was so beautiful. I loved the characters, their dialogue and the narration. I didn't want it to end. I could easily read a second book with the same characters.

Historia
Looking at real estate isn’t usually a life-or-death situation, but an apartment open house becomes just that when a failed bank robber bursts in and takes a group of strangers hostage. The captives include a recently retired couple who relentlessly hunt down fixer-uppers to avoid the painful truth that they can’t fix their own marriage. There’s a wealthy bank director who has been too busy to care about anyone else and a young couple who are about to have their first child but can’t seem to agree on anything.

Funny and heartwarming
Revisado: 05-05-22
Easy book to listen to, love the narrator, the book and the characters. The theme is in some ways dark, but the execution of the story is mostly light, funny and heartwarming. I really liked that we got to follow the characters after the main "incident". I felt like I got the closure that sometimes is missing in other books.
Bye now, going to go watch the Netflix series based on the book as well 😅

Kept me guessing
Revisado: 12-02-21
I enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing all the way. The narrator was comfortable to listen to.
I had some problem with following the names and characters, even the main characters. I had to concentrate a lot to keep track of who was who, a problem I don't usually have. I have been sick while listening to it, so that could have had an impact, but..
