I purchased Books 1-3 and thought it was worth it based on the reviews. Book 1 was great, but I wasn't prepared for the narrators lisp that was more pronounced with some characters. Book 2 had me cringing with Maeve's overbearing self doubt. Five chapters into Book 3, I called it quits and wrote my review.

Most wonderful

I'm a paranormal phenom. Give me a witch, a shifter, or an alien and I'm all in. I'm not much for coming of age or Hallmark stories BUT this was a great story. I found it by accident by following the narrator, Susan "Siri" Bennett. Loved it, loved it, love it. I couldn't put it down. Thank You

Disappointed

I should have read the reviews, but I love Eve Langlais so much that I didn't need too. Mistake. I made it through Book 1 and half of Book 2 before I had to give it up. Not sure if Naomi accepted magic, earned her witch attributes, chose a boyfriend, or if she stopped whining and gained an ounce of confidence. Thus this was such a disappointment 😞

if you like Virtual Voice, please read

I loved the storyline and the characters BUT the narrators were barely a step above Virtual Voice. Tantor Media has really done us a disservice with these narrators. Not just these two, but overall.

I made it to the end, but it wasn't easy. The narrator's nasally voice made this a chore to get through. I will read the rest of the series from my Kindle and will place this narrator on my DNR list, which is unfortunately growing.

Aiken does not disappoint, this story had strong females, not those, who act strong but then second-guess everything; beautiful majestic males; and lots of humor.

Not what I expected

Not the typical paranormal reverse-harem novels. I love the narrators and will typically follow them. Eva is one of my favorite authors. But this isn't a storyline that I would normally read. Not bad, except for the sword scene, that was unimaginable. Ghostly gang members, vampiric greedy rich people, and frogs... not my style.

The first chapter had me hooked, but the female narrator had me cringing. I tried twice to listen to it, but couldn't make it pass Chapter 2. I'll look for this series on Kindle and will read it. I'm certain it's a great series, but I just couldn't listen to the female portion.

RARELY am I able to read an entire series after the 2nd or 3rd book, but this series was phenomenal. I can see why some listeners were disappointed in the narrator, BUT I'm not versed in European dialects, so I wasn't that bothered, John Doe's "voice" did irk me a little though. This was not your same old shifter story. What I really appreciated was the culturally diverse characters, the unexpected types of antagonists and the mating bonds between different shifters. Not the same ol dragon or wolf with blue eyes and blond hair. Great series 👏🏽

Great Story

Typical storyline; loner man meets woman, they fall in love, they kill bad guys, then live happily ever after. But Naomi is not one who whines and cries and questions everything. Asher owns up to his past and accepts his new life. I mostly enjoyed that the story didn't drag on and on with so many minute details. Overall, I enjoyed the story, characters and narrator.
