One morning in late 2017, New York Times columnist Frank Bruni woke up with strangely blurred vision. He wondered at first if some goo or gunk had worked its way into his right eye. But this was no fleeting annoyance, no fixable inconvenience.

I enjoyed this story very much. There is a history of hypertension and strokes in my family thus my interest in Frank Bruni’s book. The narrator has a very engaging voice making it a pleasant audio experience.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

This is an excellent account about the resilience of women during the nazi occupation of France.
I have read many stories about England during WW II, but this is the first time I have read such a detailed account of women actively participating in the Resistance, and the ones who stayed at home. The book took me back to small towns I visited in the south of France; towns that still bear the scars of the massacres committed by the nazis.
An excellent book. Thanks to the author for all of the research she did to write her story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I bought it before an extended visit to Arizona looking for a native writer’s perspective, her cultural Knowledge of the people and the desert. In my visits to the Four Corners,
I have enjoyed visiting the native reservations and talking with our native peoples. Ms. Leslie Silko combines her descriptions of the natural history of the desert life with her cultural knowledge. I plan to listen to this book again. The narrator is excellent. She brings the author’s book to life.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me interested the whole time. My grandmother lived in Cuba in the ninety forties. I don’t know anything about her life there and this book feeds my complete fascination with Cuba and Cubans. I visited Cuba before this books was published, and which I had read it before I visited the island. The readers are very good. A number of Audible books I find difficult to follow because of the readers cadence or the sound of their voices. I would listen to more books read by K. García and F. M. Corzo.

Here at Audible, we know just how much of an impact a voice can have on a story - taking simple words and filling them with elation, wonderment, tragedy, or pure satisfaction. We rely on our narrators every day to bring our favorite stories and characters to life - to introduce us to new authors and genres, or even to a new (perhaps longer) commute. And though our narrators are the best story tellers in the business, it's usually someone else's that they're telling.

The Most Wonderful Tales by the Audible Narrators
Revisado: 04-29-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely yes. I so much enjoyed learning a little bit about the Audible narrators, and their personal holiday memories.
What did you like best about this story?
The story of the Puerto Rican reader was very interesting, and the one about the narrator preparing a traditional Thanksgiving dinner abroad.
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first time listening to the narrators holiday's performance. I look forward to the next set.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did not have an extreme reaction, but I enjoyed the short stories format.
Any additional comments?
I have enjoyed some of the other short stories' format available through Audible. For example, I have listened to a couple of the author's interviews. One of the things I like about these interviews is learning about the author's personal stories, and how they got interested in writing about particular topics. I hope you keep making these sorts of short stories available; they are good marketing pieces.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
Revisado: 04-29-17
If you could sum up Born a Crime in three words, what would they be?
Amazing story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Born a Crime?
The circumstances of his early life are very interesting. How Trevor grew up to become a funny, engaging, interesting person are truly the mark of a strong inner spirit.
Any additional comments?
I have a strong admiration for Trevor Noah. It is admirable that he was able to endure so much growing up, and developed as what seems to me a balanced person. His mother is/was also an admirable person. My respects to both, Trevor and his mom.

Historia
The legendary annihilation in 1883 of the volcano-island of Krakatoa - the name has since become a byword for a cataclysmic disaster - was followed by an immense tsunami that killed nearly 40,000 people. Beyond the purely physical horrors of an event that has only very recently been properly understood, the eruption changed the world in more ways than could possibly be imagined. Dust swirled round die planet for years, causing temperatures to plummet and sunsets to turn vivid with lurid and unsettling displays of light.

Krakatoa by Simon Winchester
Revisado: 04-29-17
If you could sum up Krakatoa in three words, what would they be?
Excellent history of the region and the effects of Krakatoa's eruption.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The devastating effects of the tsunami that followed the volcanic eruption was particularly moving.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the historical context before the eruption and what followed after the eruption. The narration was excellent. The author kept me engaged the whole time I was listening to the audio book. There was much I did not know about the region surrounding Krakatoa. I knew some of the history of the Dutch Indies Co., but the author does an excellent job at describing the impact of the Company in the region. The religious impact that developed in the region after the tsunami and the lack of action by the colonizers was interesting in the context of today's political-religious issues. I plan to listen to another one of Simon Winchester's books; the one about the San Francisco earthquake is of particular interest to me as a resident of the greater SF Bay Area.
