I am a fan of this series, and this author, but this book left me very unsatisfied. The main plot thread was obvious from the very early chapters. And in the end, it isn’t clear to me who would be charged and with what crimes.

There are a great many tangling threads from subplots just left hanging. And just how many stores on Main Street (with second floor apartments) are there in this small- town

the larger mystery is why Jill keeps demonstrating that she will always interfere with her fiancée’s detective job, apparently because she feels that she is smarter or more capable of resolving the current problem, and yet he continues to say he loves her.

The 17th book in a pleasant series about the owner of a needlework store, with strong supporting cast of recurring characters. The story is interesting and trails enough red herrings in the form f plausible bad guys to keep the reader guessing .
The narrator of this book, however, is not a good choice. She gives many of he voices an unpleasant nasal quality and many of the people sound as if they had bad head colds .It is sometimes hard to tell male and female speakers apart. . Entirely missing is the light teasing voice of Godwin and Conner’s Irish lilt

This first book in an on-going mystery series about a single mother and her catering business in Colorado presents the main characters and their back story. It is a pleasant story with interesting people, somewhat exaggerated in behavior. Having read the first three books, in which a different member of Goldie’s family is threatened. I have been interested enough to downloaded the nest to hear who will be the next potential victim
The description of the catering business forms a background, and the food is lovingly described. Some recipes are included.

The Daffodil Affair Audiolibro Por Michael Innes arte de portada

Anodd mix of broad comedy and serious message

Michael Innes series of detective stories are curiously uneven. Some of them are pure romps (Appleby’s End) and some are serious exploration of interesting topics, like the stage craft in Hamlet Revenge. This book begins in farce with witches, disappearing cart horses and pecular elderly relatives and then moves to consideration of themes of mass hysteria, crows physiology and misuse of “science”. It is hard to suspend the belief that the whole adventure is impossible: a member of the British police force would hardly be allowed to take off on a wild goose chase that includes an extended trip up the Amazon river and a protracted stay on an island in the middle of the river, surrounded by cannibals and crocodiles..

This is the last book in a long series of mysteries by Ngaio Marsh. It is set in the theater world, on of her favorite themes, and is a revisit to the Dolphin Theater and the main characters of the earlier book :Killer Dolphin”. It features a fascinating description of a novel version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth and of the actors .
