Historia
Lark Smith has always had a plan for her life: find a fantastic guy, create a marriage as blissful as her parents’, pop out a couple of kids, and build a rewarding career as an oncologist. Things aren’t going so well. For one, the guy didn’t work out. Theoretically, she’d love to find someone else, but it hasn’t happened. Two, she’s just been transferred out of Oncology for being too emotional. (Is it her fault she’s a weeper?) Three, her parents just split up. Deviating from the plan was … well, not in the plan. A potential solution comes from the foul-tempered surgeon Lorenzo Santini.

This was such a good "make lemonade when life gives you lemons" story! The narrators' performances where perfect. I wish it had been a full length book instead of a short story. I loved it!

I enjoyed the chemistry. I was hoping for a more fairytale ending but was satisfied with the real-world ending.

Thanks for sharing
Revisado: 05-20-22
I just didn't know how things ARE. As a Mexican who is most often mistaken for white, I am saved from almost all discrimination (as far as race goes), but my brown Mexican husband is not. Many of the stories he has shared with me, to my inexperienced perspective, just sounded so outrageous that I've found it very hard to relate to. Listening to your audio book has hit it home for me. Sure his stories sound far fetched and outlandish, but that's what racism is!!!! I'm sorry for not understanding or accepting the reality of it fully untill now. Thank you for your book. It's helping more people than you know.

Historia
Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months - ever since I caught my can’t-be-soon-enough-ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I’m 35 years old, and I’ve lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity. But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who’s ever gotten me. Even after death, though, she’s helping me get back up again. Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.
