Great way to tie it all together!
Revisado: 10-09-24
I started reading Necroscope when I was about 15 and I finally got around to finishing the series. this is by far my favorite book of the whole series. Vampire monks and the Cosa Nostra! Lumley outdid himself with this one.

Historia
With Glasshouse, Stross pens a Kafkaesque tale set in a 27th-century of teleport gates and mind-attacking network worms. After Robin awakes in a clinic, he struggles to summon details of his life, but too many of his memories have been wiped clean. More troubling is the stark awareness of immediate danger: someone is trying to kill him. On the run, Robin makes a desperate gamble and volunteers for what he hopes is the sanctuary of an unusual study at the Glasshouse. Once there, however, he realizes the true terror has only begun.

PKDick flavoured hard sci-fi!
Revisado: 08-13-21
I've been a fan of the author's for years now, but this one was truly an instant classic. The identity mind scramble that Philip K Dick was so fond of is done here masterfully. I rarely listen to a book more than once, but I know I will be listening to this one again!

excellent scifi series!
Revisado: 07-01-21
I don't see enough plausable scifi involving the near future. Well written and believable using actual s ience. Neal Asher is becoming one of my favorite authors. I especially liked the nod to previous science fiction authors peppered throughout the books. I might just read this trilogy again.

Historia
The philosopher asks: "Faced with the mutually exclusive choice between moral principle and the survival of your family, which is the correct path?" Philosophers love to pose such questions, and in the day-to-day struggle, such thinkers rarely attain to a level of relevance rivaling that of the simple hunger pang. Their careful considerations dissipate under the leveled gun. We do not feel their disapproving gaze when The Others draw near. When the world sends doom, the survivors do not hesitate. The survivors do what is necessary.

Follow Steve and his group as you see the apocalypse unfold through a single person's eyes. With the Geeks, you meet four young men who thought a zombie apocalypse would be cool...and quickly discover that it really isn't.

Pretty good zombie apocalypse story!
Revisado: 07-24-20
would have been 5 stars but lack of contractions made the dialog a little awkward. Also jumping from one story arc to another with no noticable pause made it difficult to follow at times. Still a good read for the money. Definitely recommend for fans of Zombie Apocalypse fiction.

Glen Runciter runs a lucrative business - deploying his teams of anti-psychics to corporate clients who want privacy and security from psychic spies. But when he and his top team are ambushed by a rival, he is gravely injured and placed in "half-life," a dreamlike state of suspended animation. Soon, though, the surviving members of the team begin experiencing some strange phenomena, such as Runciter's face appearing on coins and the world seeming to move backward in time.

Classic sci-fi with a Great Narrator
Revisado: 03-03-20
Ubik is classic PKD, which questions the nature of life, death, identity and reality. Luke Daniels adds a layer of richness to the characters to breath life into the story. If you like the mind bending twists in films like the Matrix or Inception, then you really should give PKD a try and this is a great exemplar of his works. Highly recommend.

Supernatural meets Sons of Anarchy now we know.
Revisado: 01-18-19
The first in the series was pretty interesting, but I struggled to finish this one. The crazy mashup accents that made the first book entertaining have become old quickly. Scottish Southern? Bronson Pinchot deserves better. Also, I will just mention that half the book is about juggalo magic, so make of that what you will. Maybe you like ICP. On the bright side: werepossum.

Hardcore Sci-Fi Humour for discerning monkeys
Revisado: 08-27-17
I have enjoyed this series probably more than I should. Its really corny and there are some parts that seem a little forced, but those are by far outweighed by the number of times I laughed out loud. The basic premise is that there is an intergalactic war that Earth gets dragged into, and earthlings, being the lowest tech species involved, are used as cannon fodder. By chance (or possibly not) one earthling discovers an Elder artificial intelligence that happens to also be a raging smartass. The AI helps the earthlings to get free of the yoke of their oppressors, and goes on adventures throughout the galaxy in a captured warship. Its pretty funny, and very well narrated. If you like a little humor in your sci-fi this is for you. If you can't stand humor in your sci-fi, you'll probably hate it.
The third book in the series ties up a loose end from the first book rather nicely.

Interesting take on a standard sci-fi trope
Revisado: 10-23-16
First, I purchased this omnibus after it had sat in my wish list for a while, so I had forgotten what it was about. This is how I recommend you read it. Don't go into this with any preconceived notions or ideas about what it is, and you will love the thrill it gives you with the big reveal. Narration was tops, and the writing was solid with many three diminsional characters. Great stuff. If you're into apocalyptic "shtf" type books, this is all winning.

A team of researchers has landed on the rocky shores of this dangerous landscape and discover that a horrific predator is waiting for them. It doesn't take long for this deadly arachnid to make its way from the humid island jungle to the American mainland. As this new threat terrorizes Southern Florida, a murderous infection begins to spread. Victims are piling up, and death is not the worst of it.

Typical Action packed Spider Zombie Madness
Revisado: 10-23-16
Story was pretty straight forward, with just the right amount of character development, and just enough "wtf" moments where the characters do stupid stuff that make you want to yell at them, which is almost required in Horror. This is more of a syfy saturday matinee than a classic that will stand the test of time. What I'm saying here is don't set your sites too high, its entertainment folks. The reader almost killed it with her flat reading, but she warms up about a third of the way into the book. Hang in there. Interesting premise and exciting scenes keep this book on the high side of three stars.
