Historia
They called him Sven, the Shatterfist. One of a group of heroes who fought the Demon Lord Mannon. He's finally returned home. But for Sven, after returning from abroad, life isn't what it used to be. Adventuring isn't what it used to be. Things have changed. Something is different. The obvious next step? Retire. Settle down. Start his own tavern. Drink with magic girls. Maybe not in that order.

The main character is a first class worthless idiot. It’s a miracle he didn’t die because he forgot to breath. And no, it’s not a satire.

Historia
An insidious cabal has decided to change the direction of the United Alliance of Stars (UAS) with a coup d’etat - but not through a military takeover. They have devised a subtler coup: the manipulation of the Committee, the 15-star system that sets policy for the UAS. The UAS Committee enlists their de facto troubleshooter, Anna Paulus, to shut down the cabal, but they insists she leave the NIA and manage UAS Committee Security. For Anna it’s a nightmare scenario, leaving her safe world for a completely new environment dominated by macho men with years of combat experience.

What worked as “unknown” doesn’t anymore.
Revisado: 06-11-20
The author ignorance on security worked when the MC was a low profile nobody. But having criminal in a car on the tarmac of the withe house waiting for the secretary of defence to board and throw a grenade in the plane as the door close? SERIOUSLY? The check point is INSIDE the white house lobby? SERIOUSLY?
This story made me nostalgic of star trek’s Red Shirts. Note: Marines make poor body guards. Wrong training. Wrong mission.
Don’t forget that the MC is supposed to be a genius class criminal investigator.

The MC is the definition of “Marie Sue”. Good at volley ball = instant first class demon fighter.
Not goal. No story. Petty revenge. The “good guy” have no purpose. This feels like reading 4 chapters in the middle of the story.
At least the suicidal idiot soldier actually died fighting like a blind bull. The worthless pep talk Is going on forever. Not once! 4 times in a row!
Obviously: pep talk makes you “awesome”.

This book can be skipped.
Revisado: 02-29-20
The entire book is about whining and procrastination. MC does nothing constructive or interesting. Then the entire story is concentrated in the last 3 chapters. If there ever was a Mary Sue moment in the series, this is it. The villains steam roll everything to the point it is ridiculous. Then, out of nowhere, they lose.
This is the first book in the series where I actually speed read chapters because it was too boring.

For all the bodies she's encountering, you'd think beat cop Joanne Walker works in Homicide. But no, Joanne's a reluctant shaman who last saved mankind three months ago; surely she deserves more of a break! Yet, incredibly, "Armageddon, Take Two" is mere days away.

Not my style
Revisado: 03-09-19
I admit that the author does good stories, but the mc is to stupid to live. She start philosophizing in the middle of a fight for her life? And ends up loosing because of it? The mc is reactive, unable to plan ahead. I don’t like reactive, easily distracted mc who wins through dumb luck. Because dumb luck makes the story irrelevant. You can skip right to the point where the mc slips and wins. No need to drag it.

Disapointing
Revisado: 03-08-19
This is not a continuation of the first book. It a reset and redo. Even the title is misleading, as there is little “blademage” or “dragon taming” in the book. The author had a good slow start in the first book, and blew it in this one.

It’s too long winded. The MC is in passive mode for the hole story. As far as I am concerned, this story is a total miss. Not anything close to the quality of way of the shaman.

The mighty has fallen.
Revisado: 05-15-17
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A story. I have seen first shooter games with a better story. Like Doom or Duke Nukem. (Ps: "Monsters from -insert generic location- !! Bad! Ugly! Me shoot!" Is not a summary. It's the whole thing.)
What could M. D. Cooper have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Consistency. The bad guys win because the universe forgot some laws. Like when a nano probe, military grade, flies through an hologram, it should be able to figure out that something is wrong with the mass of the thing it is supposed to be.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance can do so much.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The fist book in the series was really good. You can skip this one. You won't miss much.
Any additional comments?
This book is forced. The bad guys have been given an "i win" button and keep mashing it. Like tracking the super stealth suit that nobody knows about as if if didn't exist. Almost like they knew! Hiding behind the door is better. Right? Super military probes and training says to ignore back of doors. Said suit was "removed" from the game. It was too powerful or something. The good guys left their brains on earth in a safe box. How to stop a ship in who's cockpit you are in from leaving? Jarhead and shiny buttons comes to mind. You know, the jarhead that learned how to fly those thing? The list goes on. The first book was really good. This one? Not so much.

Revisado: 05-15-17
What disappointed you about Blackhawk?
Retired super-soldier. Brain wasn't part of his previous life. It shows.
What do you think your next listen will be?
There won't be one.
Would you be willing to try another one of Jeffrey Kafer’s performances?
No.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Boredom.
Any additional comments?
Too many stereotypes.

The only thing he remembers is that he's been contracted to command a space fleet in a brand-new game he knows nothing about. Objective: to survive for six months.

Good story. Super bad audio.
Revisado: 06-17-16
If you could sum up Sector Eight in three words, what would they be?
1second pause after each sentence. Every sentenses with the same intonation. Is that even a human reading? This is horrible. No quality control on this one.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Sector Eight?
I read the book. I know this story is really good.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Neil Hellegers?
Someone did a bad job with the audio. If i were M. Hellengers, I would be quite upset.
Any additional comments?
I think the audio format is damaged or raw. Wait for a corrected version or read the book.
