Has me Curious
Revisado: 04-26-25
Wow. I'm reluctant to give this book four stars because it literally took me 60 to 70% of the book to finally get into it but that last 40 to 30% of the book hooked me so hard. I sat there after I finished it for like a solid 10 minutes just like screaming to myself. WTF. I now have to patiently wait until October for the second book to come out, so I hope that this author really delivers what she delivered in the last third of the book. I'm excited to continue following this story. And, I am glad that I didn't put it on my dnf book list, it was very close to being one but I didn't let it happen. So if you're interested in reading this, just know that it might take a majority of the book before you actually get invested in it, but it is a good read. Once you get to the ending like the last pages of the book had me screaming. I was so mad with the cliff hanger, but now I wait for book 2.

Surprisingly Great
Revisado: 04-16-25
I went into this one not knowing what to expect and honestly a couple chapters in I almost didn't want to continue, but I pushed myself to keep going. I'm glad I did. The mixture of timelines from past to present on the 3 ladies was well written. I loved the young girls character, just curious she was, but she also had me angry. The apothecary's story of what brought her to where she was was heartbreaking. The contemporary character was so strong and it was quite impressive how she handled the whole situation. This book makes men truly despicable. I thought this was a fun read and the ending was just a cherry on top.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Revisado: 04-14-25
Being an iCarly fan as a child, and being grown now listening to her story is so heartbreaking. I remember wanting to be Jennette when I was young. Envious of her role as Sam, but getting a glimpse of all the hardships she faced has removed those rose colored glasses I had when I was young. I hope she has the space to continue to heal and continues to grow into the woman she wants to be and not what her mom wanted to sculpt her into being.

Need More Information
Revisado: 04-13-25
It was a great listen/read but it felt like everything happened so fast. It ends in a good place, but honestly seems like it could've been the middle of the book vs the end of it. Luckily, the other books are out so I can jump right into them. This one has me curious to see how it plays out so I will continue the series. The plot is intriguing so far, not much character development, and has decent villain building. Though, we didn't see much of them. Really felt like getting a bite of an appetizer. I hate the word saddle so much now. 😩 Check it out if you like royalty drama with a touch of fae.

What an Adventure
Revisado: 04-09-25
I'm definitely going to say this one was extremely long. However, the story Stephen King created by melding together all the different fairy tales definitely explains the title. I couldn't help but feel sad a majority of the book, even anxious and scared at other times, but I appreciated all of the imagery provided. It made me think of my own dogs and wonder if I would've done the same for them that Charlie accomplished in this book. I'm extremely happy I finally tackled this one.
I also am very glad I listened to this one instead of reading it, I would not have been able to create the voices in the same sense that this recording produced. A great performance that kept me enthralled.

This was a Ride
Revisado: 03-27-25
It took me a while to get invested in this book. I honestly didn't know what was going to happen and what this book was going to be about, but my aunt recommended it to me as one of her favorites so I figured I'd give it a listen. it took me starting it twice before I was able to go all the way through. I'm glad I did. The hard reality of certain demographics really hits in the feels as you see the damage an individual can take but still come out resilient. I hoped for the ending she gave and had my suspicions, and I probably cried the most in the last 5 minutes than the rest of the book. I recommend the listen if you like coming of age stories.

What is the hype?
Revisado: 03-21-25
I'm struggling to understand why this book is so highly recommended. it's a story of a women telling her daughters of a man she once dated. I'm not so sure I cared for this book all that much. It's cute. It's calm. It's something I probably won't revisit unless I have children of my own. I recommend if your looking for something about looking back at what your life was and could have been.

Revisado: 03-18-25
This one really hits the heart for me. I've found parallels from my own life to the lives of these boys. The oldest sibling battling addiction, the middle sibling having the first baby of the next generation, and the youngest wandering away from home. These descriptions could be said of me and my 2 older siblings. The first book hits you in the heart when the powwow rolls around, but this one makes you sad the whole time. Starting off with boarding schools and disappearing family members, moving to death and coping with death and the struggles of coping with death. I wouldn't say this one is as beautiful as the first book but it moves through the ugly aftermath of how tragedy affects families and I appreciate how Tommy Orange captures that. Lony resonates within my heart dearly and I'm glad he was able to grow on his own and come to terms with forgiveness. A great read.
