Two were good Two were not
Revisado: 03-27-16
The first story by Jim Butcher was great. It would have been better with James Marsters reading it, but this guy did a good job. Harry Dresden is never dull. The second story by Simon Green had way too much set up and dragged for me. Then, even the meat of the story seemed to go on too long. I did like the noir style and dark humor of it. I enjoyed the third story by Kat Richardson about the detective who talked to ghosts. It was fun and the characters were interesting. The fourth story by Thomas Sniegoski is all serious except when Marlowe the dog is around. I like a little comedy, even if it is dark or snarky, in my fiction, so this last story was disappointing.

Characters were unrealistic
Revisado: 03-27-16
The premise seemed good, so I thought it would be a fun read. The main character has some real life struggles to go through and doubt about whether she is making good decisions. That's all well and good. The problem is that all the people surrounding her are ridiculously positive. The conversations are light-hearted, but unimaginable. I listened to the whole book thinking it might appeal to young readers only.

Just like the TV show
Revisado: 04-29-14
This book continues the story of Veronica Mars after she's gone to college and come back to Neptune. The characters are older, but their personalities are intact. Kristen Bell is the voice of Veronica Mars, so that's great. Some of the voices she uses for the other characters are not the best. Since we know what most of the characters sound like, that made it hard to ignore. The pace, smart dialog and compelling mystery to solve are all there. A book worth listening to especially for fans of the show.

Great Ending to a Wonderful Series
Revisado: 04-29-14
The first two books were very well written and narrated. I was concerned the third one would let me down; not so at all. The ending was very satisfying as it tied up all loose ends and I cannot say anymore without spoiling the next dear reader. Suffice it to say, this is good story telling and James Marsters puts his whole heart into his performance. There's enough material in this series for a few seasons of compelling television.

A Simple Overview
Revisado: 04-29-14
This is an overview of what the Shred Diet is about in very broad strokes. The only purpose I can see for this book is to convince someone who isn't on the actual diet, like a relative for example, that you are on a healthy plan. That way, your friends and relatives will cheer you on. As someone already on the Shred Diet, this does not help me at all. The Shred diet is great and you should go buy that book. Dr. Smith could come up with an audio book version which could explain the concept of the diet, but reading the day to day plan wouldn't make much sense. An app would be better.

Historia
Infamously known as the cursed Scottish play, Macbeth is perhaps Shakespeare’s darkest tragedy. When General Macbeth is foretold by three witches that he will one day be King of Scotland, Lady Macbeth convinces him to get rid of anyone who could stand in his way – including committing regicide. As Macbeth ascends to the throne through bloody murder, he becomes a tyrant consumed by fear and paranoia.

All hail this Macbeth!
Revisado: 01-11-12
I felt sad when each character died including Macbeth and Lady M which is a testament to the actors. Macbeth was courageous to the end; a true warrior who got greedy and caused so much chaos that he had to be stopped. This production tells this story believably. It is acted well, the sound is clear and special effects add to the experience. Upon further listenings, the lesser lines of the play rise up to the surface. This is a recording that deserves to be played more than once.

Historia
This final play from the pen of Oscar Wilde is a stylish send-up of Victorian courtship and manners, complete with assumed names, mistaken lovers, and a lost handbag. Jack and Algernon are best friends, both wooing ladies who think their names are Ernest, "that name which inspires absolute confidence". Wilde's effervescent wit, scathing social satire, and high farce make this one of the most cherished plays in the English language.

I laughed so hard I cried.
Revisado: 12-28-11
Where does The Importance of Being Earnest (Dramatized) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Very high on the funny list of audiobooks I've listened to.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jack is more
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
The scene in Jack's garden with the two brothers eating muffins kept getting funnier as it went along. I was crying so hard I had to pause twice to get a Kleenex. This play reminds me so much of not only Monty Python, but the banter between the brothers, Niles and Fraiser Crane.

Historia
Starring James Marsters, this classic comedy of manners from 1773 is still widely performed and studied. Love, lies, and dysfunctional families. Sound like your last family gathering? Try this one on for laughs. Two randy young gents, Charles and George, set out to woo the alluring and upper-crust Kate and Constance. But inexperienced Charles is shy and clumsy around upper-class ladies, so it’s the barmaid who catches his eye. But is she really who she seems?

If you could sum up She Stoops to Conquer in three words, what would they be?
Funny, classic, romantic.

For a play that debuted in London in 1773 it is still funny and easy to follow.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
Charles Marlow was my favorite.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This recording made me laugh.
Any additional comments?
All the actors did a great job transporting the listener to that place in time.

What did you like best about Your First Listen? What did you like least?
Steve Martin was great, but the story hit too close to home. I've been on both sides of this situation and neither side is fun. Steve Martin's reading of it was perfect, though.
