Revisado: 01-11-16
I enjoyed this book, It was a slight deviation from what I normally listen to but well worth the switch. I rarely listen to a book when I am not driving or working with my hands but I just sat in the chair and enjoyed this one.

Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

I have not seen the movie but the book was a wonderful narrative about his life as a seal. I totally agree that men that know nothing about war should not call the shots.

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

great historical fiction

I am a follower of holocaust books and this was great being written from the perception of a blind girl. I was disappointed because of the characters that did not survive but overall it was a great book.

This book held my attention and I really liked the story line. It was a little difficult in the beginning but Burma is an area of the world I know little about and it was fascinating to hear about.

Historia
Shyima Hall was born in Egypt on September 29, 1989, the seventh child of desperately poor parents. When she was eight, her parents sold her into slavery. Shyima then moved two hours away to Egypt's capitol city of Cairo to live with a wealthy family and serve them eighteen hours a day, seven days a week. When she was ten, her captors moved to Orange County, California, and smuggled Shyima with them. Two years later, an anonymous call from a neighbor brought about the end of Shyima's servitude - but her journey to true freedom was far from over.

Her situation was terrible
Revisado: 12-13-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It was good that I listened because I think it opened my eyes to problems that I knew about but did not fully comprehend. I think the tale was only "OK" as far as the way it was written. It was very matter of fact and much more of a documentary type book than a story which is what I generally listen to. Towards the end she kind of lost my attention. I know this needs to be said and I am really glad that her situation ended as it did.
Would you be willing to try another book from Shyima Hall and Lisa Wysocky ? Why or why not?
Probably not another one, I have heard her story and the writing was not something that grabbed me. Definitely worth the listen just not something I would listen to again.
Was Hidden Girl worth the listening time?
Definitely. I think everyone needs to be aware of what is going on.

Historia
Throughout these books, Follett has followed the fortunes of five intertwined families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they make their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the enormous social, political, and economic turmoil of the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution - and rock and roll.

great series
Revisado: 12-13-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend it but they need to read the trilogy books in order. This one has a lot of references to previous characters and would be a different listen if I did not know what they were talking about.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Although I would love to listen to one book in one sitting, I love long books and there is no way I can do it in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
I enjoy Follett books but they can be complex with many characters and the series took a little while to get into. The characters did keep my attention and I love the historical fiction aspect.
