Historia
Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: She must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

Gillian Flynn has a real nack for the damaged girl
Revisado: 01-04-16
This book was highly disturbing, I do not want to give anything away so I will not elaborate. All I can say is every person in this book was not stable or healthy. I was a little bit disappointed after having read Gone Girl first, I could really feel how Gillian Flynn's writing and story telling developed over time, that being said this book was definitely still worth the read.

She's unapologetic and real, I like that.
Revisado: 01-04-16
I decided to read this book after seeing Leah on 20/20. I found her to be very honest of the shitty things she has done in her lifetime and it made the overall claims about scientology much more believable. I think she's very brave for coming out and speaking up about the corruption of this "religion". the book helped me learn what scientology really is and how someone can get caught up in it. all in all this was a quick and enjoyable read.

Historia
Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to have a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive. This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.

One you won't forget
Revisado: 12-29-15
This is a tale of heroism and loss during the Afghanistan war. Marcus Luttrell is the lone survivor from Operation Red Wing, and this is the story of the battle of murphy's ridge in his own words. Its haunting, and honest...and no matter where your political views lie you will have nothing but respect for his journey.

A favorite ghost story from my childhood
Revisado: 09-16-15
This book isn't recommended for super young kids. I believe I read it around second grade, and I think if you have a kid that likes spooky things, this will be a winner. Its a solid story line with good character development, that wraps everything up nicely at the end.

Historia
Don Tillman, professor of genetics, has never been on a second date. So when an acquaintance informs him that he would make a "wonderful" husband, his first reaction is shock. Yet he must concede to the statistical probability that there is someone for everyone, and Don sets out to find the perfect partner. She will be punctual and logical - most definitely not a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker, or a late-arriver. Yet Rosie Jarman is all these things. She is also beguiling, fiery, intelligent - and on a quest of her own....

Don't give up on this one!
Revisado: 07-15-15
The main character Don (a brilliant geneticist who works at the local university) has attributes similar to Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory, his world is ruled by logic, rules, and routine; however since the death of his wife he is ready to find a new mate and decides to start "the wife project" to meet the perfect woman for him. Don ends up meeting a woman named Rosie who needs his help to find her biological father, and ends up challenging everything he knows about what he wants, needs, and who he is.
This book takes a little time to show it's true colors, due to the robotic qualities of the main character it took me a while to get into it, but once I did, I found it funny and charming.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

This was one of the saddest stories i have read
Revisado: 06-11-15
This book was incredibly sad. I really expected a good story with the occasional hardship but with out giving away any spoilers, i found this book to be incredibly depressing.
All in all I can say that the story was well written, there was love, wonder, and discovery. However every turn in this story was followed by hardship, heartbreak, abuse, and the occasional sad lonely old man. I suppose if you can wait until the very last chapter there is a glimmer of light, but it takes so long to get there I just end up feeling really badly for Jakob.

Surprisingly disturbing
Revisado: 06-08-15
While I should not be surprised that a story about a Nazi would be disturbing, it did catch me off guard how disturbing this story actually was. The transformation of main characters through the story and how two seemingly harmless people could become so deranged.
I cautiously say this is so far one of my favorite King stories, it was the first story in a long time that really made me shudder.

I enjoyed the short stories more than I thought
Revisado: 06-03-15
I am determined to read King's entire collection in as close to the order of publishing as possible. In starting Nightmares and Dreamscapes I found I really enjoyed the short stories (especially Dolan's Catalac), but didn't enjoy the baseball essay and poem at the end. It was nice to hear a real experience King had with his son, but let's be honest I really just want him to scare me.

The latest from the author of When the Wind Blows and Kiss the Girls reveals Patterson at the peak of his power and is easily his most dynamic and compelling psychological thriller to date. Here is a chilling villain, a love story of great tenderness, and a plot of relentless suspense and heart-pounding pace.

Historia
In the summer of 1985, when she was fifteen, Eliza was kidnapped by Walter and held hostage for almost six weeks. He had killed at least one girl and Eliza always suspected he had other victims as well. Now on death row in Virginia for the rape and murder of his final victim, Walter seems to be making a heartfelt act of contrition as his execution nears. Though Eliza wants nothing to do with him, she's never forgotten that Walter was most unpredictable when ignored.

Lacked the ending the story promised
Revisado: 05-04-15
I enjoyed this story, but based on the main character's many mentions that she has "kept secrets" or "not told everything" I expected a great revelation at the end of the novel which never came...in the end I found the story to compelling but lacking the deserving climax.
