Story was good
Revisado: 02-08-20
I enjoyed the book though I gave to admit that I missed the back stories which are just as much a part of this series as the storyline itself. In that regard I was disappointed it’s a long 6 months until the next book which I hope will be back to the usual family like dialogue and fights between the characters . But I still would not miss a book in the series

No Better
Revisado: 11-13-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Anyone that cares nothing about the story but enjoys all the descriptive sex scenes
What do you think your next listen will be?
Unfortunately the 3rd book in the series I bought all 3 and hoping each time I get a glimpse of the Ghost Ops books that I liked
Would you listen to another book narrated by Alexandra R. Josephs?
yes
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The story could have gone so much further.
Any additional comments?
No I pretty much said it all in in the review of book 1

Historia
Interior decorator Suzanne Barron's new tenant is the most dangerously sexy man she's ever met. Navy Commander John Huntington, a former SEAL (aka 'Midnight Man') works best under cover of darkness. Within hours of meeting him, Suzanne has wild, no-holds barred sex with John, then panics at the depth of her passionate response to such a powerful and dangerous warrior. Suzanne doesn't do sex like that. John is definitely someone she needs to avoid for her own peace of mind. But when killers come for her, Suzanne knows she can turn to only one man.

Boring
Revisado: 11-13-13
What disappointed you about Midnight Man?
It was 80% sex and 20% story, I prefer my books the other way around, very disappointed
What was most disappointing about Lisa Marie Rice’s story?
not enough story which had some merit, but was overtaken by the unending sex descriptions
What about Alexandra R. Josephs’s performance did you like?
She had a good feel for the characters
What character would you cut from Midnight Man?
none
Any additional comments?
Not sure why this was in romance sails more to the erotic

Historia
On Manhattan’s East Side a woman lies dead at the bottom of the stairs, stripped of all her valuables. Most cops might call it a mugging gone wrong, but Lieutenant Eve Dallas knows better. A well-off accountant and a beloved wife and mother, Marta Dickenson doesn’t seem the type to be on anyone’s hit list. But when Eve and her partner, Peabody, find blood inside the building, the lieutenant knows Marta’s murder was the work of a killer who’s trained, but not professional or smart enough to remove all the evidence.

What did you like best about Calculated in Death? What did you like least?
I love the In Death Series have read all 36 books, love the back characters as much as the main ones
If you’ve listened to books by J. D. Robb before, how does this one compare?
This one lacked the fast pace usually associated with the In Death Series, not as much action
What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Love Susan Ericksen, she individualises If thats a word all the characters except for the one hiccup with peabody in an earlier series the characters that she portrays are like old friends
Do you think Calculated in Death needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Bring on more In Death books, love them
Any additional comments?
I found this one slow, too many accounting details which got boring to listen too. Halfway through it I justed wanted Eve to get on with it with her ususal style

Mixed Feelings
Revisado: 03-14-09
Bit slow, not the usual pace and humour.I would not recommend it as a stand alone book as it would be off putting to the rest of the series and that would be a shame. To get the best from this series you need to start at the beginning its the only way to understand the characters and how they all come into play. I discuss the books with my sister who has also listened to the series and we often laugh at the antics of the characters. I love this series and thankfully a new one has been released. Keep them comming. I dont agree with the reviews about the narration,to maintain all the characters throughout 27 books is brilliant. well done Susan. Do yourself a favour, buy book 1 and go from there.

Technology may be different in 2060 New York, yet the city is still a place of many cultures and great divides. And as ever, some murders receive more attention than others - especially those in which the victim is a prominent businessman found in his Park Avenue apartment tied to the bed - and strangled - with cords of black velvet.

Great Series
Revisado: 03-09-09
Its often been said in many reviews that to start at the begiing and just keep going is the way to go. ABSOLUTLY. The background characters and their stories are as much a part of this series as the actual gruesome deaths and although each book can each be listened to individually to get the most out of it I feel you need the whole lot. Excellant narration, geat job Susan even though you did have a hiccup with Peabody at one stage. Only 2 to go and I have caught up here's hoping J D Robb has another about to go.

Revisado: 09-14-08
A good story ruined by mundane narration. The narrator sounded bored which distracted from the story. Its hard to get into the tension of the plot when it is read with no emotion. Had I read this before Blue smoke and Murder another story about the St Kilda operatives I would not have gotten it and that would have been a shame as it is another good story but with much better narration.I often wonder if the Author knows just what an awful job some of the narrators do. end result. Get the second book and forget this one.
