Pat has done it again.

The Narrow Road Between Desires is a magical journey from the perspective of Bast who is more than he seems, yet exactly who he seems. A touching journey that as a father, brought me to tears and has me yearning for the 2nd listen to piece apart the nuances after knowing the bones of the story. Pat, you've once again written a story that is engaging and entertaining, while still being something that is relatable and beautiful.

The narrator, Nick Podehl, has become a voice actor that since reading The Name of the Wind, is in high demand especially in the LitRPG genre. It was great to hear him once again return to Tamriel and I'm grateful that the audiobook came out the same day the book was published.

Thank you Pat. Your work makes the world a better place for being in it.

Changed my lifelong relationship with depression

I've had depression since I was in my teens (now mid 50s) and have followed much of the trajectory of John Moe. Thinking I was weak and just needed to get over it, how broken I was and unable to get help, self destructive behaviors in an effort to cope, and fits and starts on the road to "better" and finding whatever "normal" people experience.

His humorous approach to depression, got me to laugh at my own mental stories, to see that I am not alone in this, work on some of the stigma of being "medicated", and to change my perspective that suicide was an "option". In short his story and how he told it materially made a difference in my experience and perspective of depression and how I go through my day to day life.

I highly recommend that anyone suffering from depression, or having someone dear in their lives that's suffering from depression to give this book a listen.

This is a realistic and scientific assessment of our current challenges as human beings.

It ends with practical advice to learn to know yourself more clearly (mental and emotional states) and to view that clarity with equanimity to be a better human being. To grow and flourish with well being and to reduce the suffering to other human beings.

I've been a Zen Buddhist for 15 years and Chade is able to really distilled down a lot of really core pieces of my personal (also experiential) spiritual paths. Most of those are rooted in my years of wrangling with Buddhist philisophy.

Many people ask me for good ways to start, and this book has catapulted to the top of my recommended books. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Where does You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's in my top 10 books overall. Patrick Rothfuss, Earnest Cline, Jack Campbell, Steven Brust and now her. It's not the traditional sci-fi or fantasy that I usually read, but it's witty, charming and funny book that has me identifying with her in so many ways.

#Neverwierd

What other book might you compare You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) to and why?

None. I don't ever really go for memoirs.

What does Felicia Day and Joss Whedon - foreword bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I get to hear the author read her own book. She's got a very endearing way of delivering her "voice" that really adds a lot to the experience.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Still in the midst of it, but I like how I can identify with her in a very real and tangible way.

Any additional comments?

Liked her in Dr Horrible's, Loved her in The Guild, and now she's written this. Didn't know if she'd be a good author/writer, but she's done a great job and I'd highly recommend it.

What made the experience of listening to Great by Choice the most enjoyable?

It was read by one of the authors and you can hear the conviction in his voice. It keeps me engaged and interested.

What about Jim Collins’s performance did you like?

He spoke with conviction and really believes what he's written. It translates very well to his spoken word.
